Ok well here are a few mock ups based off the idea you guys have thrown around.

I've filed down the turret ring and played around with raising the level on the back. Please excuse the paintjob, I got a bit carried away painting in a gloomy room with a knackered brush, and then it got covered in filings.

Personaly I think the turret does need to come down a bit further, although I dont know if I'm sold on the back section yet.

Here are pics

a). no turret - to see how it was contributing to the front heavy look)
b). lowered turret - Not much but didn't want to over do it
c). With a covered area on the back (imagine the walls continue down)

Can anybody tell me how to post as thumbnails or links to actual pics?

so any thoughts?

In regards to the actual Leviathan model.

1) Your front Doomsday cannon is mounted a little higher.
2) The ratio of height to length is different, yours is a little longer compared to the height
3) The back terrace is lower and is missing the tower

To be honest it looks good and the only thing I would suggest for a better look is upping the level on the back terrace to between the current spike tip level and the bottom of the top armour plate on the front tower.

The actual tower in the middle of the back terrace is a feature of the original Leviathan but I don't think your model needs it.

I've mocked up an image showing a raised back terrace with copy and paste in a photo app. It would be tricky to do though

Nicely done.  I wouldn't change it.  Front heavy, perhaps, but it has an uncluttered look to it that I don't think you could keep if you added a bunch of stuff to it.  The suggestion to have something landed on it is a good one.

Great stuff  :D

If you can implement it I do think the profile on Arkturas' modified version improves it.

Wow, that really takes the guesswork out of it! I hate to sound like my Dad, but thats amazing.

I guess I'll have to mull it over for now, as your right adding tht extra level will most likely be a pain in the ar...... er....... gluteus maximus

Hey guys,

I've decided to stick with my gut feeling on this and leave it as it is. I think if I start changing bits by the time its painted and finnished I'll regret it.

anyhow been doing some more painting, although I got distracted by this guy who turnt up in the post today.

I'm a bit stuck as regards my color scheme, I like black/grey and red but I feel like I ought to throw some bronze in there too. For instance should the railings be black or bronze?

Also I don't know if you can make it out but I've tried to highlight the small pillars the turrets sit on, I dont really know how to highlight a smooth surface so if anybodies got any advice i'm all ears.

Cheers

Looks awesome.  I probably would have had a slight slope on the front glacis which might have made it a little less front heavy, but I salute your "it's perfect as it is" approach   .  I'd be happy to see that on a gameboard any day!!!

the front actually does have a slight slope, I think the problem there was pretty much to do with the fact that I cut all the pieces by eye so that it was intended to be sloped and from the right angle it is sloped. otherwiase though the oddly not quite roght angles throw perspective out the window

Brilliant work. The use of BFG parts is pretty inspired. There aren't many people who make nice gothic models so seeing one is very cool.

Cheers!
