Got it on the first try, you did.  A pounce wheel and very thin plasticard.  Here's a WIP pic that shows off the rivets pretty well:



There's a guy on eBay that sells a huge assortment of hobby tools, including pounce wheels.  I might be able to figure out who he is by looking back through my feedback.

This is outstanding work.  He looks as good or better than the GW version.  

Paintjob is VERY nice as well.  Any Ork would be proud to stomp around in that!

Someone had asked me for a size comparison with another Gargant.  I don't own any, but here's a shot with an AT-era Beetleback and a E40K-era Battlewagon:





I think it's way too big, but without a model to compare it against "in the flesh" during the planning stage, I was kind of shooting in the dark.
