Hey there, I am really confused on the state of each availiable list. I saw a thread on the Space Marines development forum listing each variant list. I could easily see which list was availiable and the current status of the list. Is there something like that for each category? I know that there is the compendium each year and that it is indeed a huge mess to compilate. But, it is yearly. Some approved lists are missing there, like the Nids or the AMTL. Or Black Templar who are no longer "In Development" apparently. Is there a thread which lists all "In Development" and "Approved" lists? Especially for tournaments which use the NetEA framework, this could help A LOT. I made a list myself, but I don't know if this is correct. If no list is linked behind the name, the compendium has the up-to-date list. The compendium does not have the latest emperors children list. The current 4.0 list is in the first post of the development thread in the chaos forum. The compendium list is frogbear's 3.x.x version. |

Add the Iron Warriors V3 to the In Development list. They should be added to the Compendium in due course. |

Skitarii should be listed as Developmental, not approved. Cataphractii should be listed as Experimental. |

What about the Knights? Is the Compendium List still the way to go? What about the Adeptus Ministorum? There are two lists. Which one is the correct one? Is Krieg still approved or is it back to "In Development" after the noted issues? I havent found a thread for "Iybraesil Craftworld Crone World Raiders". Whats the status on these guys? Why are Black Templars back to experimental? @Onyx I thought Irons were experimental? I thought so after I read the discussion about the Obliterators and some other stuff in your Thread. I also read that there is only one playtest group and I thought there must be at least two for "In Development"? Ugh, my head spins.. |

What's the actual issue we're trying to solve here? Is it to create another thread that's going to go stale as it inevitably doesn't get updated with immediate answers OR Discuss the organization / process of how to find current lists and their statuses in an efficient and self explanatory manner? I expect the latter as simply you seem to indicate you liked the single place stickied in the Marine development area that links out to each of the lists and indicates succinctly their status. Otherwise this is pretty much a wasted thread. I'm not saying that to be harsh but this thread isn't going to do squat as things change because frankly all the ACs are not going to remember to come back here and keep it up to date let alone the information they do enter is all inline and going to be hard to follow. Perhaps explaining your "dream" experience is a better approach to take and we can try and make the process as pain free as possible is a better approach here? |

The latest Knight list is in my sig. The ALC is on hold until there's a better system in place to maintain it. I was working on one for the TP, but the utilities I was using for it weren't the best choices and it put too computation on the client-side of things. I've since started over (for anyone interested in the underlying code, it's on github). My todo list includes:
With those complete I'll be able to generate a webpage and PDF for the TP, each approved list and the FAQ in under a minute. Next steps them would be coming up with a workflow for people to get their dev/exp lists generated and hosted, which would lead to a next generation ALC. |

Well IMO the "dream" is that the compendium and tournament pack are both automatically generated from the latest lists. Hopefully this dream will become a reality soon-ish. Unfortunately I'm not sure how playtest lists can benefit at the moment. Edit: basically what Dave just outlined. |

I like this dream ![]() So can I ask this, is a top stickied post with a simple List, Status, link to current list/dev thread in each othe factions doable until magical code fairies are satisfied by the sacrifice of cheetah blood and mountain dew and unit test suites? ![]() |

That's been the idea, if not the practice. From the AC responsibility section in the CRaP: Keep up-to-date versions of the following in sticky topics on the appropriate forums: core list, non-core lists, playtest changes (and notes on why they were made). |

Aye but I think the OP was really lamenting a single place to go, if not universal, at least factionwide that links out as opposed to a bunch of individual stickied threads that you have to do into each one and read to find out the story on them. Largo_W, correct me if I'm wrong.... |

Aye. As for NetEA tournaments it is really a pain to organize if you allow "In Development" lists. The TP is fine and it worked in the EEC. But as soon as you look around for other lists, it gets a mess. The Adeptus Astartes Approach is fine. The others is not. This threads purpose was a plwa to either a) get a single up-to-date list in this subforum Or b) get multiple threads, one in each netea subforum Perhaps even listed as "Playtest version" and "last stable". Heck, it works in "normal" programming the same way. My reply to the inlines was more a way to get more, and perhaps better, answers to my original unanswered plea. |

The labelling of lists is a bit of a favourite topic of mine that I often bore people on. There is a lot of unnecessary confusion IMO especially around playtest versions of approved lists. Personally is like to see "approved" (a NetERC granted label) being separated from a list's stable/volatile status (an AC decision). Early in the development there won't be any stable versions, but later on you can test changes in the volatile list and periodically promote (merge in software engineering vernacular) "good" ones to the stable list. Eventually, the AC submits a specific stable version of a list to the ERC. |

I also read that there is only one playtest group and I thought there must be at least two for "In Development"?. The Iron Warriors are definitely in Development. The Iron Warriors have been played in the US, Europe and Australia. I have 3 more battle reports in the works for V3. Obliterators are annoying but certainly not game breaking. I don't foresee many/any changes to the list that we submit once we have the required battle reports. |
