I think everyone needs to chill out a bit.

Markconz' revised rules are a work in progress.  It's not going to make everyone happy and it's likely going to need additional tweaks.

I think MW may be too much, but the only way to know for certain is to try it out.  I don't know of anyone really testing it at this point.  Let's see what it does.  If you think it's going to cause problems, try to abuse it.  Play a game or two with high numbers of Vindicators and see how they turn out.

While I don't agree with Mark on everything (probably less than half) I need to point out something to everyone:
Mark has made more progress in 2 months than the ERC has done in two years.  Let that sink in.
You may not like the changes, but these changes can be debated and changed again.  We are all in the mindset that the once this updated handbook is done it will be YEARS again before anything is done.  While we don't want to update it too frequently, there is nothing from stopping us from playtesting/reporting and then changing it to something else in 6 months.

In other words, if the handbook is updated and you don't end up getting your way on every little point, the world will go on.  The game will still be playable.  The models will still look cool.  You don't need to drill an extra hole in your demolisher cannon to make it MACRO. ;) And if things turn out to be overpowered, the playtesting will indicate that and you can go back to Mark and say, "See I TOLD YOU SO!" and that will fill you with vindictive glee (at least it would for me). :)

Right... so choosing to go with the majority view rather than your own personal opinion makes me a fanatic? That's my way, your proposed alternative besides just insulting me in general terms is what exactly?

Furthermore being fanatic about getting some progress on Epic at this stage would actually be a bad thing? What did specialist games used to be called?

I'm sure you have hundreds of reasons why you could not do this rulebook, just like everyone else does (yet you still seem to have time to go through the army lists and make charts of individual weapon numbers and shoot your mouth off).  Really Nibleblitzer, none of us has time - the number of mistakes I made working on this book late in the evenings should make that obvious. Compared to my day job though, this is just some light relief.  :)

Thank you for telling me you'll use the handbook at the same time you insult me though.  Anyone else want this job - it's great  :D

Actually Mosc I'm about to start a poll on 'should players have to drill a bigger hole in their demolishers'.

Given that this is Markconz's project I don't see any problem with the way he works. It's great that he even bothers to ask and tries to get the general opinion on these matters.

As stated before: At least he is moving forward.

Tis an ideological opposition for me. MW is a bane for armies like marines. I'm generally against stuff that negates other rules too much. Why not (as I have always said) disrupt instead? You still blow infantry out of cover but instead of killing the marines stone dead you treat them as nine pins.
