Oh the confusion about current or official rules and armylist is by far a mess. For it is the reason I'm requesting help and advice from you nice web folks.

The new/updated files that are to be on the GW site is just the errata add to the current pdf's?

Also the changes from grav tank troupe's to swords and shields of vaul not official?

And what are the difference between the 2008 Handbook, the 2.0 Compendium, Original rules and ERC versions? And are any of them the same with add stuff? Please explain...

Yes. The GW website currently contains the original rulebook and the 2008 errata as separate files. A new version of the rulebook that folds these two documents into one is due to be uploaded soon. There is not currently any such updated version of the Swordwind supplement, however.

Mostly correct. The Biel-tan army list does not feature Swords or Shields of Vaul troupes. They do not feature in the original list and this has not been changed in the ERC's recommended modification to the list. However, the Swords of Vaul troupe does feature in the experimental (but stable and pretty well-balanced) variant lists for other Craftworlds like Alaitoc or Ulthwé. The Shields formation, however, has been abandoned entirely, as it was rather over-powered.

The original rules can be found in the Swordwind supplement. The official errata removes the spirit stones rule, replaces all incidences of the pulse special rule with 2xShots, disallows transporting Warp Spiders in Wave Serpents and adds Leader to the larger titans.

The NetERC recommendations tweak a few units for balance and allows two units of Wraithguard in a formation rather than three. They can be found here.

The version of the list in Hojyn's 2.0 Compendium should be the same as the NetERC version. That document is, I believe, a compilation of NetERC army lists.

The version featured in the 2008 Handbook was a proposed revision of the list that would have changed the army significantly. It was eventually rejected on the grounds that it was too radical. Some of the less controversial changes survived as the NetERC's recommended version.

Thanks for the Fast Reply. I had it all right for the most part just wanted someone to tell me it anyways.

That kinda sucks. I have a pack of Firestorms and no Falcons. Good reason to buy more I guess.

Good to know the differences finally. So the Compendium is basically ERC approved then? And the Handbook not so much? I do like having all the armylists together. Would like is to be an official section and unofficial/fan/In progress section to split it up better.

So the Compendium is basically ERC approved then?

Sort of. Unless I am mistaken (it happens occasionally), the lists in it are generally the NetERC versions, but there are one or two lists in it which aren't the most recent version or have a few errors in them. I don't know how much of a difference there is, though. Hopefully someone else can answer that.

And the Handbook not so much?

No. Although quite a few people like it because it provides a single, complete document that covers everything, there are plenty of things in it that were only ever suggested changes and were eventually scrapped. It's pretty much 'unofficial' according to any authority or coordinating group.

Note that the netERC is currently putting together their own document, a netERC armies book which will contain all the latest lists and a judgement on their balance by the netERC. This will hopefully end a lot of the confusion.
