Id place my vote for Freespace 3. Freespace2 being the best god damned space combat game there ever was.

Also, in looking for that link ive discovered that freespace lives! here

I am a happy man!!

Was Max Payne 2 not very good then?  I've got the first, and liked that, bu never got round to the sequel.

Max Payne 2 had good technical stuff (graphics, engine, all that). But while the original had (IMO) great plot and a good conspiracy story the sequel took all the good elements and overdid them in the worst Hollywood style possible. I still cry when I think about Vinnie Cognitti in wired (as in wired to explode) Captain Baseball Bat Boy suit.

Plus I must admit I didn't like the plastic surgery they did to Max. The sarcastically grinning Max of the original game was replaced with your stereotypical action movie hero.

I've got some of the mods that peeps have made to jazz up Freespace 2.  It's pretty good.  I've not really got round to truly immersing myself in it though (I only bought it last year).

I think that's the impression I got from reviews, which is why I avoided.  I've seen too many disappointing sequels to bother with games solely on the basis that I liked the first one.

Half Life 2 was good; most other action game sequels have been sorely lacking.

I'm too engrossed in Oblivion at the moment to care much though!

Rather than any particular game,  how about a special interface which would allow me to play video games telepathically, so I can paint miniatures at the same time and not lose precious hobby time to trivial video games

I agree wholeheartedly with this, it is such a good game to have this mod built for :blues:

Oh yeah, I love the Shining Forces games. I don't know if they're the best games ever, but they definitely rock.

I would love a game when you were the princeps of a titan.

Either as a first person shooter or with you directing the moderatis in firing and moving.

Starting off with a warhound and gaining access to new weapons and titans as you progress.

I'm with Denis - a Sci-fi (or Epic) version of Combat Mission would be really awesome. It is the kind of game that really appeals to miniature wargamers. I wish it ran on OS X - it's the one thing I miss about OS 9...  :(

was actually a pretty cool game, particularly for $20.

Junky graphics, but great concept and gameplay -- impressive product from a one-man shop.
