Standard tournament army size seems to be 2700-3000 points. ?I always play 3000 points. ?So I'd say go for that; perhaps 3500 points to give some variety. Apparently the SG forums will remain open, but of course welcome ![]() |

Welcome to Tactical Command. ![]() The standard 'tournament' sized army is 2700 or 3000 points. I normally play at somewhere between 2-3000 points myself. |

If you don't yet have an opponent, then you've got time to amass forces. I'd say grab almost anything you can get cheap. Plastic Marine vehicles are especially good. Beat 'em up a bit (ie shave off some details), add a gun barrel made from the inside shaft of a retractable ink pen (include the spring on it to make a Zzap gun). Imperial vehicles are good too, but usually not as cheap or easy to modify. Basically anything works (even 6mm models from other ranges). Alot of people avoid the old plastic Battle Wagons (flat with a skull and spikes on the front). I say, start cuttin'. Take parts off, make your own turrets. Anything round, with a closed top could work. Like the cap from an ink pen. Stick some type of rod in there for the barrel and paint it proper, your good to go. If you've got lots of boyz and few specialists, add boyz to those stand to stretch them. If you use white glue (like Elmers) to glue them down, you can remove them later when you get more of the correct type. |

i actually fell upon a great offer on another site. another gamer was trying to get out of gaming altogether, so he offered me his entire epic ork horde for a good price. i have something like this: 1 warboss stand 1 doc stand 3 runtherdz 20+ nob stands 100+ boyz stands 8 stormboy stands 8 kommando stands 24 grot stands 96 big guns 72 battle wagons 32 war traks 32 warbuggies 9 scorchas 2 squiggoths 5 weirdboy towers 6 gun wagons 4 dragstas 12 flakk wagons 16 dreadnaughts 3 fighta bommas 2 battle fortresses 1 gargant 2 great gargants 1 mega gargant im not new to the ork conceot, i play orks in 40k, and have for about 10 years now. right now im seperating the units into sections, than im gonna estimate the amount of points i have total. does anyone see any units i dont have that i should pick up to round this off? |

Depending on your eventual army theme, it might be interesting to throw a Landa or two into that list. Quite an impressive army selection! ![]() |

That's a mighty fine army you've got there! ?The only thing that seems missing is airpower (Fitta Bommas and Landas), but many a successful army can be fielded without aircraft (just be sure to bring some flakwagons). ?Spend some time painting up your forces (and find an opponent!) before spending more money. Whereabouts is your area, anyway? ?From your forum handle, I'm guessing "USA", but I can easily be mistaken, and that's a LOT of territory! |

i was thinking of landas, also a few stompas as i am inlcined for more war machines. i play with gargants and stompas in 40k scale, and i like the result. and any excuse to play with a stompa mob is a good one for me. where can i post a list of rules questions i have? i have ALOT of questions regarding the epic game. Edit: im from eastern pennsylvania. ive been trying to find players within an hour from me to teach me epic, but i havent found anyone yet. |

I noticed you had no Stompas and a lot of people rate the Supa Stompa. So the Stompa set might be worth getting (3 Stompas and a Supa stompa). |

At the risk of sounding condescending, are you sure you ID'd all the models correctly? Based on the mix of models and various infantry sprue compositions, it looks like you should have bikes as well, so I thought maybe you had some bikes identified as wartraks. I would also expect your count for big gunz to be along the lines of the total number of shooty boyz you would have. But maybe the guy you bought from traded a bunch of bikes for big gunz at some point and I'm completely crocked. ==== In any case, that's enough diversity to do several different kinds of armies. Off hand, I'd say... 1) Infantry horde 2) Mounted infantry horde (Evil Sunz style) 3) Big Gunz horde (Bad Moons style) And plenty of Weirdboy Towers for Zzap Guns sprinkled around regardless of army composition. |

allentown is like 30 minutes away from me, i would be ETERNALLY grateful if i could get ahold of him. @nealhunt, the wartraks are in fact wartraks, they were in blisters when i bought them so i saw the names. they look like the tracks i have in my 40k ork army. the big guns i mentioned are an exact count also. the battlewagons are the cookie cutter plastic ones, so they could either be gunwagons or battlwagons i guess. ill be posting in the armageddon epic form some rules question i have. thanks dave |
