I've recently disposed of my beloved 40K Deathwing army, and to fill the gap I'm going to do one for Epic. Here's the planned list so far - what do you think? Terminator formation ?325pts +Captain ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?50pts Terminator formation ?325pts +Chaplain ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? 50pts Terminator formation ?325pts +Land Raiders ? ? ? ? ? ?400pts +Dreadnoughts ? ? ? ? ?100pts (BTS goal, in Landing Craft) Landing Craft ? ? ? ? ? ? ?350pts Terminator formation ?325pts Terminator formation ?325pts Thunderhawk ? ? ? ? ? ? ?200pts Thunderhawk ? ? ? ? ? ? ?200pts = 2975 pts. Slightly worried that I'll be able to do an amazing first turn combined assault, but then get killed quickly after that. What do you think? Reaver |

I'd say that's a legitimate fear. I would suggest taking the Termies in the LC and the LRs as separate formations. You'll be limited by the movement of the dreadnoughts anyway, so the chances of the formation being mobile early on are pretty slim. It would also give you a second activation in the turn after the air assault. For armor support, you might consider doing something like a Predator formation, Hunter and Vindicator for 6 Rhino chassis vehicles on the LC. That would be faster than LRs, throw out more assault firepower for the initial drop, and get some AA on the board. But of course, that's not entirely Deathwing... |

Yes, the problem is keeping it Deathwing... Limits me to Termis, Dreads and Land Raiders, plus flying units. The only reason for taking the LRS and Dreads was to bulk up the BTS goal size. I've lost a lot of games with marines because my BTS formation isn't all that big or robust. An alternative I've tried is a Warlord Titan, basically leaving it to around the end of the turn before I activate it, then Marshalling it to get off a few shots at whatever is in range, and get the Voids back up. Not very offensive, but very tough to kill. But what do I drop to make 850 points available? One other possibility I'm thinking of for this list is to just take 5 Termi formations, all with a character of some kind, and all in a Thunderhawk. Not sure it'll work, but I like the idea...
