Hi Dafrca, (Dafrca @ Aug. 15 2006,15:27) QUOTE EDIT: Ok Maksim, just so you will be happy, I have reported the thread to the Moderators just as you asked. Dafrca, that wouldn't make me happy. What would make me happy is if you could give me a break and accept an apology from me for when I snapped at you (while my relatives and friends were getting murdered by indiscriminate rocket fire), which you rightfully deserve. And I didn't ask you to report any threads to the moderators, I pointedly addressed the query to the community and not you in particular. I didn't want to single you or anyone else out. What doesn't make me happy although it doesn't pointedly bother me either is having comments made about me or having anyone sarcastically trying to make me happy. (Dafrca @ Aug. 15 2006,15:27) QUOTE Sadly not everyone sees the same things the same way. Thus is the way of the world. Yes, but, if you give other people a chance and open up a discussion with them, they can see things your way or even make a compromise. That's, generally speaking, how peace is made. But that takes two people communicating... if one doesn't listen, peace will never be made. I refuse to think ill of you. I'm not cutting you off. My door's open and I've tried to work things out with you. I've tried. The ball's in your court now. Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. |

Hi! I've been out a couple of days, so I really dont know whats going on. But please, please, please guys let us all take a deep breath and not get angry with each other. We all have different views on different things, but I would like everyone, at least in regard to other list members, to assume we never would deliberately try to piss each other off. Primarch |

(primarch @ Sep. 15 2006,03:25) QUOTE I've been out a couple of days, so I really dont know whats going on. I can give you a very brief summary, with my point of view in brackets: Maksim asked Dafrca [in a much too insistent and inappropriate manner] support for his POV on the Israel-Lebanon affair. Dafrca got pissed off at him and "slammed the door shut" [probably for past events, too], so to speak. Maksim then offered apologies and tried to make amends, both explicitly and, in some threads, implicitly [I found the implicit attempts annoying, too]. Then a "rules of this board" thread was made, with had Maksim's name written all over it in a painfully obvious way [I thought, and still think, that that was a homing missile directed at him much more than a reminder of a board rule]. When the 9/11 thread came out, Maksim [correctly] pointed out that that thread, too, was intrinsically political in nature. At this point, Dafrca replied to him [in what I find a sarcastic and paternalistic tone] and reported the thread. All in all, I think the entire matter was very badly handled from both parties AND the board as a whole. |

Well done all concerned! I am fairly patient in general, but there are areas of these very boards which push me to the limit. I have just got back after a couple of days and just assumed that people here would be mature enough to discuss wargaming sensibly. ![]() So, I am closing this, an in addition I will not be responding to any PMs that I have had in the last few days. In general, I think that Magnus has the series of events pretty much nailed down - possibly also including the fact that this board, and specifically I, handled it badly. I had hoped that we could could get along without explicit or implicit flaming. Since all parties seem determined to drag their viewpoints into the open, that is where they will end. dafrca - Please, stop making subtle and not so subtle digs at Maksim. If you have a problem then let myself or one of the Mod team know. It is not your place to reprimand him. Maksim - If someone does not acknowledge your posts, then they probably dont want to, and making another post to try to force the issue does not help. In addition, if you feel targetted and slighted by myself or the boards, then please let me know and we can discuss it. Complaining about a post due to regulations, and then creating an identicle one after the original is closed as a result of your request does not do anyone any favours. Then reporting your own post really is just trying to irritate people. I understand that your original post was made during difficult times, and that it was started to generate support. However, it then went on... Israel treats Arabs better than they do in their own countries (Women vote, homosexuals are not persecuted, Bedouins and other Middle Eastern minorities are full memebrs of society, etc.). Almost noone recognizes Israel's charity work all over the world (Teaching farming in Africa, disaster relief, many peace programs, etc.). If I have handled any of this situation badly, then I apologise. I acknowledge Magnus's comments, and specifically that the 'regulations' post was targetted at Maksim. You are partially correct. The post was aimed at the community in general, but clearly prompted by recent events. Perhaps I should have either made this clear, or made more effort to keep it general. If Magnus, Maksim or others were upset by this, then I sincerely apologise. To reiterate - politics threads are not welcomed here. Remberance threads will be extremely closely watched. Threads which attempt to present a viewpoint will be locked and in some cases removed. Stating that 'people do not have to read it if they dont like it' is not valid. My sincere hope is that the rules will be adhered to, people will drop explosive subjects and one subject beyond the scope of what these boards are meant to cover will not tear them apart. |
