The Pictures
Only 16 since my batteries ran dry then. What can I say. My stupid fault for not buying new ones day before. I did ask another to bring couple if he wouldn't mind and had spares but those too had no energy left. Ah well.
Anyway tournament itself was nice. 16 place tournament though one didn't appear. This mean 2 bye games as after 2 games another had to leave. I took my eldars(8 shining spears, 6 warp spiders+2 dire avengers in vampire, 6 dire avengers+2 dark reapers in wave serpents, storm guardian host, 2 scorpions, 2 jetbike troupes, falcon troupe with 2 firestorm). Got 8/10 painting(as did 2 other of my armies that I had borrowed to other players who were interested in epic but hadn't own armies. Orks and space marines).
First game I faced AMTL. YIKES! It was THE opponent I had feared before tournament as my army lacked long range firepower(scorpions firepower would be soaked by void shields...) nor had I much of else with which to deal with titans.
Anyway first turn was cautious drawing of titans forward(I had massive activation advantage and definetly made him go first). I managed to break reaver with standard weapon configuration. Good thing even AP weapons can be employed to cause BM's as both wave serpent mounted formations came to pepper the titan with shuriken fire.
Second turn. Avatar led storm guardians to tear up warhound(I wanted to limit his # of formations that can hold objectives). Shining spears hurled themselves against warlord(uraaa!). I figured they might be able to dent and win combat with help of lance attack. Nope. 1 DC caused and whole host wiped out(gulp!). I didn't want to let warlord activate so in desperation brought in vampire and ground assaulted it. 3 DC! HAH! Warp spiders and dire avengers are better titan hunters than shining spears Even better two criticals popped up(at which point opponent started to comment how that titan is doomed) and warlord broke. Hurah!
Things turned out even better when warlord DID go "boom" at the end of turn. Inferior human technology. ELDAR titan's won't go "boom" that easily .
Anyway with help of warlord exploding, me hunting warhounds and reaver being broken it wasn't too hard to get 2-0 objective victory. This, since it came on turn 3, was 17-3 victory for me.
Game 2: Hena and his tyranids...Say something about going from one bad opponent to even worse. His list can be found on tyranid playtest forum but shortly: 2 big infantry swarm, artirelly swarm, some sort of armoured assault swarm, harridan&gargoyles, genestealers and some big bio-titan.
This time tyranids were even PAINTED!
Well last years ropecon game pretty much repeated. Tyranids came, tyranids saw, tyranids ate. I caused hefty casualties at first but ran short of eldars soon(wasn't helped by insane amount of 5+ rolls he made initially. Later his rolling came back to more normal level but at that point damage was already done). I lost 4-0 in 3 turns and only managed to prevent bliz objective being taken by forming wall of eldars from broken jetbike host and shining spears between only tyranid formation able to get to objective and the bliz objective.
Not very "eldar like" tactic but 5-0 in 3 turns would be too humiliating. As it was it was worst trashing I have ever received.
And then came saim-hann. Now who got the bright idea of giving formation with farseer 1+ initiave? Automatic success on retain initiave is NOT nice. Without serious firepower(pair of scorpions did waste 2 bike hosts nicely but alas could only do that after damage was done, apart from first turn) it all came down to strategy rolls. I kept losing them and there was nothing I could do. Wasn't even helped by losing first turn strategy roll. Nightwings(1+ initiave on them too?) on CAP took out vampire and expensive cargo before I could do anything with them.
5-0 loss at turn 4 and second worst defeat in my life.
So all in all mighty 17 game points and 8 painting points(but since lots of armies were well painted that didn't help. Lots got 9 or 10...) gave total of 25 points which put me 3rd last . Knew that last year ropecon 2nd spot was exception.
Anyway apart from lack of batteries(own fault) and problems on trip to home(railroad companys fault) I had blast at that day and though I ended up being awake nearly 24 hours(but that's partially in fault of java blood bowl...) it was all worth it.

Despite the thrashings you had to suffer through, it sounds like you had a fun day anyway. Thanks for the pics.

Thanks for the pics. Are there any pics of Epicomms members? Also, unless my eyes are deceiving me, did I see two girls?

You need to put it like this:

where XX is # of image. Now it goes to first picture of set all the time. | Oops!

Quote (Ghe'dahlg @ 12 June 2006 (19:49)) | | So my first game was indeed against tneva. I was bit concerned against his Eldar because they have their fancy lance and pulse weapons of which I have really bad experiences from our tourney in RopeCon '05. |
Might I point out my long range weapons were not that many and my lances got instantly splattered when they tried to make a dent to your warlord
Now if I had bring COBRAS concidering tournament used experimental rules...
and I knew my Warlord would be destroyed in upcoming explosion |
If you believe something happens it happens. Don't believe your warlord explodes and it won't(heh heh).
I got proof of that theory when I faced you. I had nightmares facing your AMTL month before tournament so naturally you popped up
