Well I had a slow day being sick so I'm going to talk about something....
I didn't know where else to put this so here it is...
Bill Mauldin is famous for his Willie and Joe cartoons that appeared in Stars and Stripes during the war.
I just finished reading his book "Up front." It is a collections of thoughts about the war that inspired the cartoons. He wrote it toward the end of WWII so his expereinces were still fresh. I found it a very good read, an excellent glimpse of the American GI in WWII.

I really likes these cartoons. I find them humous and eye opening. I really believe that most of the poor grunts in a IG regiemnt really look and act like Willie and Joe.

That's one of my favorites too, Lion.
You gotta love Willie and Joe! I don't think anyone captured the essence of GIs as well as Bill Mauldin.

On further reflection, this might be closer to the truth.
Ask any enlisted man: The most dangerous weapon in the enemies' arsenal is an ossifer with a map, especially a butterbar!
For the naval types out there: They say that an officer loses 25% of his brain with every stripe on his shoulderboards. [Captain, USN looks at his shoulder, with 4 full stripes] I'm in trouble.
Had that one told to me by a Captain, at the change of command, where his boss was standing next to him.

I always got a kick out of this one..........

But my favorite was the 'vertical foxhole', however it wasn't there. 
Truth is there isn't one of them I can think of that any dogface, from any war, would have trouble relating too.
I also seem to remember one where and officer says, "You, you,......and you, just volunteered for........"
Mauldin was great and I loved his book, espcially the part about Anzio and the rough and tumble Canadian/US SF outfit.
Picking on osifers, but isn't it more like 30%?
