Anyone else excited by the prospect of this? If net rumours can be believed this next supplement will include Epic Air War rules - and presumably be accompanied by some new epic aircraft model releases :)

No word yet as to what forces will be involved though, but I'll be waiting with interest...

Hi!

If it means more epic stuff, then yes, we're always excited about that. :;):

I am filled with dread when I consider Forgeworld epic rules :)

I'd agree with Primarch, any new Epic stuff is worth getting excited about!  If this news is correct, it sort of makes me regret my decision to get rid of my Epic Lightnings & Barracudas - but they'd sat in their boxes for 4 years, so I might as well...

I do wonder what tack the Air-War rules will take.  I had a go at doing some (which s why I got the FW Epic flyers), and it was fun, but it had a very complicated movement/turning system, I'd have been better off using classifications like in Epic & BFG, where certain aircraft move a certain distance before being allowed to turn.

Also, it had a very complicated targeting/fire system, but if I were to go back to it now I'd use the same fire values in the current E:A stats.  The distances were a lot shorter though, which meant you really had to manouvre your attack wings to get on your opponent's tails to have a chance at shooting them down.  But when you did it was really, cool, just like watching WWII dog-fight movies, or Ties tailing X-Wings over the Death Star...

Firmly seconded! Although this would probably mean a new batch of Epic fliers in production... so not all bad!

Didn't they have a seperate game a while back for Epic scale airwars?  Saw a copy on Ebay a while back, bomberz over something I think... Had IG verus Ork plus some other WD article stuff.

I'd welcome new rules if they work and fit with the feel of the game/s

Bommerz Over Da Sulfa River (or some other typically Orky spelling)

It's a board game, just using minis for pieces.  Definitely a beer-and-pretzels game, but fun.

That's the main problem. Epic is a ground game and I don't think it really needs (nor do I want) highly detailed air war rules. IMO air assests should be limited to transport and ground support.

if done right a seperate epic scale airwars game could be very cool however I doubt we are going to see that in this case, putting the rules aside however I do have to agree that if it gets them to continue making epic scale models then it is a good thing.

Yes, we heard about it on a French G-Day thread on another site ... I look forward to more Epic models and I'm guessing the rules will be able to use with Epic ground forces ? ??? ?And/or an Air2Air game, like AH's Richtofen's War ! ?However, I'm with D/S on this ... when it comes to CAS ... But new minis might be nice ! ? ?:;):

Was over my buddy's house and we looked up that site ... Today they said that the Air Wargame is Epic Scale; BUT not Epic ... it is a stand alone game ... ???  So if anything, I'm guessing we may see some more Epic scale models ... but this is not an adjunct to Epic ... As I said before, after F/Orks ... we may never see any more G/W Epic ?   But we and DRM will keep it alive !
