I don't know about you guys - but I tend to forget that IG arty have HB's onboard. Especially in the last turn of the game when things are tight - the ability of Arty to open up with the HB has ruined my day a few times....

Has anyone else gained my irrational fear of charging machine gunning bombards, or is it just me??

Even worse, empty Deathstrike Launchers grabbing the Blitz...

Always, my FA is hidden, undercover, on the edge of the board, firing indirect ... like real FA ! :;): ?Would only use the HB if about to be overrun ! ?:D ? And on the board or in "real life" ... I'm not real happy about charging MGs ! :D ?:blues:

Hi!

We use "point defense" in epic, so charging armored units with them is usually not a good idea.

Sorry for the confusion - what I'm talking about is when the artillery which can't fire it's main payload due to reloading, instead drives after you using its Heavy Bolter...

Kinda like the Royal Horse Artillery charging through French Cavalry during the Peninsula campaign in the Napoleonic wars... :D  One of those things which doesn't happen very often!

That's a creative way of using them. I agree that's it's easy to overlook their heavy bolters since you're more concerned about their main armament.

Just had that experience in a recent game against Tau. Tigershark flew in and dropped Heavy Gun Drones on my Basilisk and Manticore batteries. Of course, my opponent forgot that HGDs only do AP... Next turn, with rockets unable to fire, the Manticores did a Sustained Fire with HBs and killed 3 of 4 and broke them.  :(8:

Manticores can do no wrong...
