Post subject:  Epic gaming conventions in France, anyone?
Howdy!  My girlfriend & her mother are going to open a Bed & Breakfast in France after the summer.  After I went to the Full Scale Assault Tournament yesterday, she's been talking about running Tournament/gaming weekends from their B&B in the Dordogne region of France.

I'd be more than happy to organise such events  :) , but what I've been talking with her about is whether anyone would be willing to pay 2-3 nights B&B, plus flights/transport, for a weekend of Epic (or other games)?  Obviously this is may appeal more to European based gamers than elsewhere - sorry everyone else! :down:

I just want to see how crazy her idea is... :laugh:

My wife might be interested - if she gets at least a week's holiday after I have my fun at the tourney! It would cost me somewhere over 300Euros to get there. So in my case, it would have to be a one-off.

As above would have to expand it into a longer break but I would be up for it.

Problem though the wife doesn't fly. :angry:

Might have to stop spending money on models and save up for a new car. :(

There are lots of Epic players in France. The idea isn't so crazy. It's more than feasible that you could get a game going.

Thanks for that, Maksim!  Although technically, the house is going to be in my girlfriend's & her other's name - but when I graduate and start earning (should I put 'find a job' first  ???  :laugh: ) I'll be contributing to the mortgage for the place, so I'll be able to stake some sort of claim such as that on it...  :;):

I will bear in mind the existing French Epic gaming community - I should imagine it'll be easier for them to make it to our B&B!

As for what form these gaming 'holidays' will take, it depends on how long people want to stay for.  I could fit something in to a long weekend (2-3 days worth), although most of those responding to this seem to prefer the idea of making it a holiday with the family/spouse.  Of course, there's plenty of fantastic/pituresque historical places to visit in the area, so family wouldn't get bored while you're playing Epic...

I've discovered this topic thanks to Hojyn.  :)

The idea is great.

As Dordogne is a beautiful area you could even think about a tournament on more than 2 days in order to alternate battles and activities in the region. This way the participants could come with their wife/husband for example... But this is a very ambitious project...  :laugh:
