Hello to everyone. I used to play Epic back in the late 80's and early 90's and continued to collect after that. I have a renewed interest in playing after reading all of the positive feedback for EA on various forums.  I've lurked here for awhile and really enjoy the discussion, battle reports, photos, etc. I particularly like the fact that the people posting seem very mature and civil.

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and ask a question.  I'm planning on adding some of the new metal minis to my ork, guard, and space marine armies, and remember reading about some of the figures being poorly cast (although haven't read much about this lately).  I've already recieved some of the imperial vehicles and character sets and been pleased so far.  Are there any I should steer clear of? Thanks in advance and sorry for the long post.

Welcome LeeD - nice to have you around. I've only bought few of the models released for EA, and these include the SM Drop Pods, the SM Lander, IG Rough Riders, IG characters, the Ork Landa and the re-released Ork Fighta-bommas - no problem with any of these at all. Some do have copius amounts of flash, but this has been easy to clip away.

Cheers,
John :D

Welcome!

For Ork models the only one I had an issue with was the Dethkoptas. I put off painting mine for a long time as I thought they were a bad model. Having said that when I did get around to painting them I was pleasantly surprised by how they came out. So based on that I would buy more if I wanted my army list to have more in it.

Thanks for the reply vanvlak. I can live with flash, it's having to carve new details out of ill-defined clumps of metal or having tracks molded on backwards that I want to avoid.

Thanks also Falesh.  I agree, the pictures I've seen of the deathcoptas painted up, including yours I believe, look pretty good.

Hi Lee, all the new models (marine, ork, guard, eldar) I or my friends have got, have been very nice. Only one miscast in all of it (an exarch sprue in one of two Avatar packs which arrived last week), and GW has said they are sending a new one so no worries.

Oh, and welcome to Epicomms!

Welcome to the show !  And I bought most of the new E:A models (some were re-released E40K as we all know !) and most of them were very well done ... we await the F/Orks here in US !  :;):

Oh oops  that's right it was me who posted  complaining about the backwards cast tracks on hydras... to be fair a lot of second hand epic40k era chimera hulls had their tracks glued the wrong way around by their previous owners. It just is not that obvious. However, you would think GW would get that detail right!!

Hi Lee,

I haven't had any complaints to date although I greatly prefer the larger variety of E-40k casts.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.
