Ok, so it's not a Black Library novel (or rather series) but I've been reading The Honor Harrington series (David Webber) and it really gets me in the mood for BFG... The ships as described have always reminded me of the Tau fleet but upon shecking out the cover of my most recent one (or rather the one I'm up to in the series), In Enemy Hands, this has gone from impression to full out fact...The cover has a blatantly Tau (SG) shaped ship closing on and destroying a wedge shaped ship... Heck, the tactics would even translate fairly well as fleets are forming a "Wall of Battle" (3D rather then 2D) and attempt to "Cross the enemy's 'T'"... Good Sci-Fi and it reminds me of the true cost of battle (loss of life) in impresonal ship to ship combat... |

Hi, I has hard time getting into "The Honor Harrington" series (David Webber) and tried more than once... I found them slow-starting... Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. |

Yes, I'm reading an H/Harrington story too. One of 3 in the "Warmasters" book. Includes the first few chapters from Drake's H/S last book, "Paying the Piper" ... Drake's still my favorite, but he writes about "Grunts & Panzers", so it's kind'a like going back home ! ![]() |

"The Honor Harrington" series was fun reading until book three. Then I gave up on them. By book three they had taken it so far I was bored. It would have been better to have built up to that level over the series. dafrca |

I have heard good things about both the Honor Harrington and Hammers Slammers series of books. Not got around to reading either of them yet but will keep an eye out for them next time I go to proper bookstore. Cheers James |

I love both series and got right into HH. In fact I'm re-reading them now and am on Book 6. There are lots and lots of 19th Century naval Tactcis and traditions upgraded for technology. Its Hornblower in Space effectively! ![]() |

The Hammers Slammers series really got to me. I loved them. It is one of the suggested readings for anyone who wants to be inspired to play SciFi. dafrca |

Yes, but that cover pic is pretty old and pre-dates the Tau ships from SG by several years... |

Would not shock me to find out the folks at GW took their cue from artwork like that. For all their militism about IP, it is interesting to see how little original work they did. dafrca |

I can't say enough good things about Drake's Hammer's Slammers series, I got all the books from Amazon, save for the first from a second hand store. The Mayfair OOP board wargame - online and Drake's approved HAMMER'S SLAMMERS mini rules w/background (it's a great compendium !), also online ! Now if Old Crow would only make that stuff in 6mm, like they talked about ... ![]() ![]() |

They must be secretly working with G/W to undermine the 6mm Sci-Fi world ! Just another of life's disappointment ! ![]() |

Hi! I'd wish ANYONE make good 6mm infantry. 6mm is really lacking a variety of choice in that regard. Primarch |

I don't think that's the problem. Problem is that besides Alternative Armies, Adler and GZG there are not many (any?) manufacturers making 6mm sci-fi infatnry compared to, say, the amount of companies making 6mm WWII stuff. ![]() |
