Hello, I was going to save this for when I get back home after New Years, but I couldn't wait to share this with you (that, and the fact I'm experiencing a bit of insomnia  :p  )

To set the scene, I have a friend who collects Star Wars figures.  He's always said his dream is to visit some tiny, out of the way village in the middle of nowhere, in which there is a toy shop, with stock of original Star Wars toys from the '70's/'80's.  I'm sure that there must be those amongst us fellow Epic nutters who have had similar wild fantasies - coming across some remote toy/hobby store to discover old and rare blisters & boxes of OOP Epic minis...  :o0

Anyway, I'm currently in France staying with my family here.  Yesterday we went to the town of Perigeaux, which is in the Dordogne region of France (and it's a very nice place, if you ever get the chance to go!).

Amidst the many boutiques, patiseries, confiseries etc. in its narrow medeival (sp?) streets, I came across a shop selling Fantasy, Sci Fi, Wargaming and RPG stuff.

And two my utter delight, they had two hangers of Epic 40k era minis in blister packs.

:o0

They only had about 16-20 packs, most of which are stuff that's currently available (Baneblades, Wave Serpents, Ork Skorchas).  I did however manage to pick up the following, which I'm certain you can't get anymore:

- 2 Blisters of Ork Wierdboy towers
- 1 Blister of Ork Pulsa Rokkits
- 1 Blister of Ork Wartrakks (I don't think you can get these anymore?)
- 1 Blister of Space Marine Land Speeders - the  previous versions.

How cool's that?  :D

As mercenary as it may sound, however, I don't intend to keep these, but trade/sell them on.  If they'd have been Tyranid or Chaos stuff, no question I'd have kept them!  But as I have LOTS of Epic ork stuff already (in need of constructing/painting), I hope to trade them for stuff that I do need.

When I get back I'll post some pics so you can be sure this is the genuine article, and I'll put up a trading thread.

Till then, I just thought I'd share this discovery.  It might not be a motherload of SM/TL or AT/SM era stuff, but I was quite excited to have found it anyway!

Finds like that are very rare because Primarch has already emptied most of them.

I remember finding a shop in Bath (in the Podium) that was like that. I bought a few OOP blisters (and actually sold half of them on eBay and made a profit).

I then went back to buy a load more OOP stuff only to find the shop had closed down...

Oh, I forgot - I found a single Spleenrippa and the chassis of a metal skull-head battlewagon in Sheffield - worth it at 50p each, anyway.

Hi!

My collection is based on finds like this. I made it a point in my travelling days to visit all game stores I could. Lots of time I found rare OOP epic minis.

Any gamer who has to do any traveling should visit local hobby shops. ?I can't tell you the number of OOP and heavily discounted things I have picked up from hobby shops in other towns. ?With my participation in Bartertown I now try to keep an eye out for heavily discounted items that will trade well there.

One of the interesting things about travelling and going to other hobby shops is that you will see what games are popular where. ?During the Golden Age of Epic I would go to hobby shops and see how popular Epic was. ?There was one place I hit in the St. Louis area (I think...) where Epic was the king game, WHFB was second, and WH40K was almost non-existent! ?I picked up a couple of WH40K Khorne Blood Reapers (OOP way back then) to use for converting titans to Chaos titans.
