Post subject:  Land Raiders just a big piece of Metal ?
I Denied myself nothing this Christmas (J'K) ?and bought myself a starter SM army.

3 Tactical
1 Devastor
2 Predator
2 Thunderhawks
2 Assault.
3 Dreadnaugts ( Although I think in epic are redundant )

I have Termies on Order. I don't know if Landraiders are worth it, but I'm thinking of expanding with Fast attack, but I don't know what.


Also my IG army is almost comlete.

Warlord
2 Warhounds (FW)
3 Stormswords. (FW)
3 Baneblades (FW)
2 shadowswords
1 Infantry Co.
1 Mechanized Inf Co.
1 Tank Co.
1 Artillaryn Co.
3 Griffons
3 Hyrdas
3 Hellhounds
3 Demolishers
4 Thunderbolts
2 Marauders.
2 Storm trooper units.

Anything else I would need ? I'm not realy sure how to use either army.

You might want to add characters to each army and perhaps bikes for the Marines. I know there is some debate whether Land Raiders are worth the points.

There is plenty of discussion around about reducing the costs of all Marine armoured formations in the rules review. give the LR a go, it is resiliant and packs a punch as well. Like DS said add some character, also give the Assault Marines, Whilrwinds and a Stike Cruiser to your list to add some variety in your attack. Also have a look in the Epic Rules section under EA Astartes at Land Raiders.

Yeah, they do look good. But almost 50 bucks Cdn. Holy Hanna.

I just think 4 Land raiders filled with termies is a disaster waiting to get destroyed. And land raiders on there own are'nt realy going to do any better than Predators. But maybe full of Assault Marines and just drove straight into the enemy they might have there uses.

You can't put Assaults in LR's. Sorry.

A friend has been experimenting with a Devastator Squad mounted in a pair of LR's with a hunter to keep my Fighta-Bommerz at bay. He succeeds most of the time, albeit it's a fire magnet because it's usually his BTS.
