I mail ordered some stuff this morning from my local GW store. For all my parts/blisters i had written the codes down from the instore catalogues, however i couldnt find any Epic Eldar codes and the only pictures available were the ones in the Fanatic mag which doesnt show the full eldar range. In my list of stuff were two Storm Serpents, a blister of War Walkers, and the Revenent Titans.
The way it works in my local store is you hand your order over to one of the staff and they phone it through there and then.
So the first obstacle the helpful staff guy from the store came to was the War Walkers. As MO tried to charge ?15 for the blister. Luckerly the staff guy had read some where that they were ?8 (rather than me just saying they are supposed to be ?8) and argued to get them cheaper for me. The mail order guy eventually let me have them for ?8 even though the GW website and the GW computer system both say they are ?15.
Memorable quote from this part of the conversion, the staff guy said to the MO guy...
"Well im not surprised you dont sell many at that price."
The second obstacle was the Storm Serpents. Again i didnt have the order codes so the staff guy asked for them by name. I assume the MO system has a product name search facility on it, so i was surprised by this responce. Memorable quote from this one was...
"There's no such thing as a Storm Serpent."
At which point i tried to describe what a storm serpent was. Which still didnt help until i told them to look on the store website.
Now heres a really weird bit, all my order added together had a grand total of ?66.60
GW's system brought the total to ?66.55, everything was a multiple of 10p so where i lost 5p at i have not got any idea about.
The good bit is everything was in stock so i should have it all next weekend. New toys for the Eldar ?
Oh and space marines too, got myself a strike cruiser and drop pods.
So apart from the fact that MO barely seems to acknowlege the exsistance of Epic, is it any wonder epic is losing its support when GW not only cant be bothered to put the minis in the shops but also cant be bothered to try and sell the stuff on line. i think they would sell loads of the stuff if they opened up an Ebay store, judging form the fact that i have seen some of the new Revenents go for ?20+?2postage on ebay, and they are only ?20 from GW. Watch this auction and see if it does the same.
Having said that i suppose if you dont have a GW store near you, then it would still be ?2 cheaper than having GW post it to you. Now i see the logic... Doh!
