Hi!

Looking at the bad trader thread got me thinking...

How many of you have gotten "taken" by a bad deal?

I was taken once, prior to the age of the internet boom for 100 dollars. The deal was a good quantity of epic squat stuff. I tried several methods to recover the money, all failed. It hurt too, I was just a resident back then and 100 dollars for hobby was stiff.

I'm much happier and feel safer since I do internet deals. Not that they may actually be safer, but I feel I have more control over them.

What are you're experiences?

My experiences so far have been okay, except for one. My only bad experience was with a seller on ebay who lives in California. It was only a small deal, 5 bucks for 10 painted Land Raiders, but I won the auction on August 26th and finally received the LRs on October 3rd.  Plus, the seller never responded to any of my emails. After having having waited so long, I was prepared to never seen them or my money again. True, it was only 5 bucks, but it was the principal that mattered. The funny thing is, now that I have them, I really don't want them. :D

I wasn't really "taken" but back on the majordomo list I worked out a large trade for some epic stuff i wasn't using in return for a bunch of 2nd ed 40K materials.  The other party shipped the 40K stuff in the GW box, i.e. the cardstock 40K box, rather than in a box suited for shipping.  I finally received the shipment about 2 months later, ripped open, with stuff in baggies and much of it missing.

As I said, not really a ripoff because he tried (sort of) to deliver, but I was seriously ticked off at the guy.

I have not had a bad experience with eBay so far. One webshop (New Wave) had terrible customer service but they eventually delivered what I ordered.

Sad to say, I've been ripped off by two Epicomms members who dropped below radar horizon after taking my stuff in trade and not giving anything in return. :( That said, I have not had a single bad trade with any of the regular posters.

Hi!

At least you got the minis, albeit, very late.

Funny thing is in my case I wasnt really pissed by being hosed for 100 bucks. Annoyed? Sure. But not Pissed. I was a different person back then I guess.

If it happened to me know, I'd want BLOOD!   :;):

Hi!

I consider the packaging and delivery "part" of the deal. So, as you I'd be ticked with the guy too. It shows lack of consideration and poor customer service.

Hi!

That IS kinda bad, and with Epicomms people no less, albeit not regulars (or not even posting anymore).

CS should put in the boards charter that such a thing is a hanging offense....  :;):

New Wave ripped me off for about $40 once, that really annoyed me. ?They said they'd refund the money coz they didn't have the stock. ?Never happened thou' & they stopped replying to my e-mails.

If I'm every in Australia I'll hunt them down & kill them in the streets like the dogs they are...

I'm not joking

Hi!

New Wave has a real BAD reputation. I'd stay away from them at all costs.

I haven't had any bad experiences, hobby-wise, but I did hear about an Epic-scale Thunderhawk that some yahoos on eBay bid up to several hundred GBP.  Evidently they missed the response to the question that it was the metal EPIC thunderhawk, not the metal 40k one.:D

Brings to mind the best insult I know in Japanese: bakka!  (means anything from idiot to fething moron, depending on inflection)

Hi!

Hehe, didnt they realize it was the epic one, or was it subterfuge on the sellers part?

I would have thought a picture alone would have tipped off the buyer that it was epic scale.

I have seen this quite a few times with Epic stuff. The prices bid are way our of line for what is there and then you see it relisted.
