STAR WARS: How many troops in a squad?

Hi Everyone,

I was working on some miniatures for a Battle of Hoth game I have been planning and realized I have no idea how many Star Wars troops constitute a squad or platoon... So...

------

*** How many soldiers are there in an Imperial Stormtrooper squad? ***

*** How many soldiers are there in an Imperial Stormtrooper platoon? ***

------

*** How many soldiers are there in an Rebel trooper squad (As in the ones at Hoth or elsewhere... )? ***

*** How many soldiers are there in a Rebel trooper platoon (As in the ones at Hoth or elsewhere... ) ? ***

------

*** How many soldiers are there in a Clone Trooper squad? ***

*** How many soldiers are there in a Clone Trooper platoon? ***

------

This question was first posted at this E-group:

Anyone interested in Star Wars, Star Wars miniatures or Star Wars gaming is both welcome and invited to join the group.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Just out of curiousity, is this based on West End's old Star Wars Battle Miniatures or Wizards of the Coast Miniature Battles? I'm a fan of both.

Has anyone played the old Star Wars miniature game from West End Games? It got high marks when it came out, but it was also around the time Rogue Trader was getting popular. . . or in my case, ADEPTUS TITANICUS!!!!!

From the 'Attack of the Clones Visual Dictionary':

On Geonosis, the Republic deploys two full battle armies, with Yoda and Mace Windu commanding one each and other veteran Jedi Knights in charge of eight corps of 36,864 troops each. All other divisions are led by specially trained clones: Commanders head regiments of 2,304 men; clone captains lead companies of 144 men; lieutenants head platoons of 36 men; and sergeants command squads, each made up of nine clone troopers.

I'd assume that Stormtroopers use similar values, simply because they developed from the Republic army.

From my perspective, that all makes sense ...

Hi Guys,

I wasn't researching this as a function of either of the existing miniature games (West End's old Star Wars Battle Miniatures or Wizards of the Coast Miniature Battles), but purely as a background question.

I'm curious because I'm wondering how to base my own figures for my Battle of Hoth game.

I've received a number of answers from Yahoo E-groups and it comes down to the fact that like much of everything connected with Star Wars, there's nothing set in stone. In fact, existing references often have conflicting answers.

It seems that all Star Wars military organizations have 8-12 soldiers in a platoon and 3-5 platoons in a company. Above company level, things get REALLY chaotic.

Shabbat Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Kind of makes sense if you think about it. In the Star Wars world there is so many different kinds of organizations (Military and para-military). Their larger organizations, above Company, would reflect the nature of the group or organization.
