The data system problems solved here, finally, is my report.

Military presence:

The island had a stronger than anticipated presence of air assets. They were using their airbase as a commercial airfield as well allowing us to note the presence of several F-16s and F-4s. [Photographic evidence deleted for security reasons]. Additional Gyrocopter wings and Air Attack Corps have been added to the invasion force.

The island also had a strong presence from some kind of multinational (probably mercenary) regiment called "The Tourists". These are most likely reconnaissance forces judging from the amount of audiovisual recording equipment they carried. Why anybody would form an entire regiment of recon troops only is anybody's guess. It did, however, allow us to blend in nicely.

Geological report:

As suspected, the local landscape is mountainous and building strongholds should be easy. potential sites examined; see following photos.

Another potential Stronghold site. Demolishing the local structures should present no problems.

And some more. Even though these look dangerous with vicious thorns they are inanimate and, in spite of the bright colors, are not toxic.

And still more. The extensive plantlife will provide ample supply of camouflage.

Other threats:

The waters surrounding the island seem to harbour a large population of aquatic feral Orks. These are unlikely to pose much of a threat as they rarely venture far from the beaches, for which we have no use. Included is a photograph of a particularly fearsome feral Ork boss with his nobz.

Conclusion:

All in all, the mission was a success. The preliminary landings have already started. Below is a picture of a disguised Land Train.

We must, however, be vigilant as there is evidence our mission was partly compromised. We suspect that the enemy primary stronghold of Malta has been alerted to our presence as we found evidence of the greater daemon called "Kitten of Khorne". A cruelly decapacitated mouse of which only a head remained, obviously aa victim of some sinister scrying ritual, was found at the steps of our  secret headquarters. I suspect a leak. Therefore the invasion schedule is to be accelerated.

P.S. Apologies for the misleading subject. This will be the only part. A beardling scribe misunderstood the UI for this teletyper. As a punishment he has to translate the memoirs of an Ork warlord.

Hi L-4,

The Greeks bought the F-4s and F-16s from the USA, of course.

The Turks really fought to try and keep F-16s out of Greek hands.

Both the Greeks and Turks are members of NATO.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Well, as was to be expected I had a rather unpleasant experience with sunburn. I really don't seem to have any extra pigment at all.  :( The fault was mine as I applied sunscreen in somewhat incorrect way (i.e. too little of it).

The temperature was actually quite pleasant as it only was about 24C. that was BTW one of the reasons we went in May. The other was that since it wasn't the tourist season yet the price for the trip was cheaper...  }:)
