Hi Guys, I recently bought black art pens for situations when a 0000 or 00000 brush was not good enough for insignia on shoulder pads or when transfers werent small enough to be used. The pen I used last night seems to be 005 size and it has a really super small tip. Does anyone know if you can get different colours? My art dealer didnt know and I was after white and red. ?If not then I will just have to practice using a brush but I found a pen so much easier. If anyone has any info I would be really grateful to hear it. Thanks in advance. Doug |

Art pens are just something I discovered that you can use for models. These look just like felt tip pens but once dry dont come off so easily. They come in small sizes and I used one to draw on an epic banner. It was much easier to do than using a paint brush. As I have progressed with my painting skills I find that using a detailed brush wasnt good enough to get the result I wanted so I started looking for an easier way to dry very small patterns in small areas, on a 6mm mini. For instance my painted DA vehicles require the insignia painted on the front and hatches. On the marines themselves I wanted to paint the insignia on each shoulder pad and then the correct squad number or detachment type on the other shoulder pad. I found that very thin paint brushes like the 0000 or 00000 were good for detail but I seemed to not have the right technique to hold the brush for very very fine detail. A pen on the other hand seemed to be more stable. I asked the mini painting yahoo group and recieved the following link which you can see the pens for yourself http://www.rexart.com/sakura_pigma_micron.html I didnt find the white but this is a very good start since I only have black Hope the explanation helps.... so if you know any other retailers that sell this stuff... let me know.... again thanks in advance. I would show a pic of the banner I did which was simple in design but I am not allowed as yet..... as soon as I am told I will upload the pic straightaway |
