Hello everyone, glad you're all still here.

Sorry I haven't been around in a long time.  My life has been a big rollercoaster of late.  Only just am I starting to get to a level piece of track.

I'm about to move to Wiltshire (just putting our house on the market) so things aren't settled quite yet, but its better.

hope everyone is doing fine.  I have been out of the specialist game loop for a bit (I always planned on getting back) although me and 2 others are in the middle of a necromunda campaign (Go Delaque).

Anything major happening? Note that I have missed ALL the info from the world of the web over the last 3-6 months.

I do have a nice brand new shiney computer form Dell though!

Welcome back SH... :)

Bad news on the Epic/SG front I'm afraid, if you havn't heard...

Fanatic has been downsized, and the possibilities of many new releases for all the SG systems has been dramatically reduced. We will hopfully get Tyranids and Chaos for Epic sooner than was hoped, but with very few new models produced for either range. :(
Oh, and Fanatic Mag has been axed, and we will get only online support (no printed Epic supplements!!!!)

Post subject:  Hello everybody

I saw it say the last fanatic mag was due out soon, and began wondering and speculating.  I never had a computer for a while, so was totally out of the loop.

That is real bad news.

Glad they got the Eldar done!!!  But highly unfortunant for the rest.  I thought it all seemed to be going well.

I have finally got another person into gaming, but at the same time lost one of my old gaming buddies.  I'm weaning him in slowly.  First LoTR got him hooked, now were playing necromunda, and he phoned the other day to say he's ordered a load of space wolves.

Once he's had a few games of 40K, I'm sure i can get him into epic.

SG should have earned a fortune on my mate alone.  He bought poo loads of stuff for necromunda!

What other news is there? Any tournies? Competitions?

That's the ticket!  The very same tactic I've been using although I had to start even further back with Axis & Allies.

Hi Shadowhunter.

From memory of your old posts, you are one of the list Ork BFG players. Any advice for a new Kaptain? I had posted a couple of comments in some of your old threads. Would be great to get your feedback.

Cheers

James

Post subject:  Hello everybody

I admit I haven't played BFG for a few (6 or so) months.

I was a big fan of the Orks, and I can only recall losing once with them.

To put it simply, get up close and personal asap.

This may mean taking hits head on, but then that is where your thickest armour is already.

I would press the big red button, and charge straight for them.  For once in range with the Heavy Gunz (the ones that hit twice) there is little that can withstand the pounding.

Try not to split up too much, cause you'll get picked off.  And use loads of Assault boats to deal with enemy escorts.  These are much better than your escorts and a real pain.  But, since assault boats cause a critical on a 2+, they are easy to gte rid of with these.

I dont bother with fighter bomberz, they are poop.  Just launch tons of assault boats, and put your opponent on the defensive.

Torpedoes are good, but use them at point blank.  Its difficult to reload them, so save them for a certain hit.

Use planets to turn. Ork ships a re a bit lumberous.

Ram is a good tactic. Very painful for both of you, and very funny for both of you.  If you can, ram.  Its what Orkziez should do.

Boarding actions are another strong point.  Your kruizers have 10 hit points, with a warboss on that gives an assault value of 20, plus orks bonus of 1 means even battleships are vulnerable.  This is quite difficult to pull off, but if you charge towards them as a mass, one of your cruisers can sometimes get into BtB.

Any more pointers or questions?  I'll be very happy to answer.  And remember, everyone thinks orks are the weaker fleet.  This means there's no pride lost if you lose, and loads gained if you win.  Also, Orks are damn fun to use - no matter what the outcome.  And that goes for most systems of warhammer.
