Thanks everybody! As you can see, I'm back. Weather seemed promising enough at start but the temperature soon climbed over freezing. I got to ski _once_.  :(

Aside from the weather I had quite fun vacation. Examples of what I did include a tank seminar within the premises of the armored brigade barracks at Parolannummi, playing D&D, going to a dinner and to see a movie with the Drill Sergeant.  :;):  The movie (Phantom of the Opera) was, quite surprisingly, good (usually I hate musicals). Somehow that particular one managed to be a movie first and foremost and the musical part only came second.

Sounds fun, Mojarn - a tank seminar? You sure do interesting stuff in Finland. :D

Glad that you had a good break, shame about the skiing (I would have thought that you had to ski to work! :D ) Welcome home :D :D

Yep. I'm a member of the Armor Guild (surprise!) and they organise some really interesting events. I just wish I knew a thing or two about machines so I could take part in restoring the old WW2 beasts to running order.  :(

BTW, the lectures in the seminar were:
-Leopard 2 training in Finland and Germany.
-Infantry fighting vehicle project.
-Patria's new AMV
-The development of Finnish armor tactics.

Plus we got to see a Leo 2, CV9030 and AMV. And yes, we could climb in and see what it was like to sit on a crewmember's place. No driving, though.  :;):

Sounds great! The tank-work idea is terrific - once I get my PhD done I'd like to try my hand at the aircraft in our air museum here. No tanks, here though, although there were a few Matildas and some earlier infantry tanks around in WWII. If I'm not mistaken, the only bit of armour we had is a Bren gun carrier.

Argh missed this one! :p  Sounds very intersting Mojarn.
The Leo2 is an awsome tank. I had the priviledge of getting a ride in one a couple of years ago. If was in rugged terrain so the experience was less that pleasureable all the time. Squashing an old Volkswagen more than made up for the bruises though! :D :;):

Cheers! :)
