That site would certainly be a good start! Campsie - I'm not quite sure what you are after. I have perused numerous naval websites (funnily enough) but it depends on exactly what you want. A full ORBAT of the RN is different each year reflecting action losses and new constructions. |

Ideally, I'd like to know what makes up a task force. What the Home fleet consisted off, number of BB, carriers etc. I'd like a rough estimate on how many battleships we had during the war, how many carriers. That sort of thing. I was wanting to try and recreate the british fleet in BFG. |

Campsie - an ambitious and laubale project, but probably not achieveable in the detail you desire... 1)Task Forces were mission oriented, and more often than not, limited to what was available and ready rather than selcted to be perfectly balanced. Look up "Task Force H" as an example or the OP Harpoon/Vigarous Convoy escorts 2) Home Fleet strength waxed and waned, again limited to various other factors including the use of older BBs as convoy escorts to bolster numbers. As losses mounted BB strength went down, while CV nos increased as the war progressed, so you BB:CV ratios will change dependant on the year. 3) Janes Fighting Ships of WW2 (available at any library) will give you the numbers here 4) Even GW studios couldnt do that! But somehting liek the Far eastern or Mediterranean Fleet would be more achievable. And dont forget the valued contribution of the Allied Fleets and the Australian "Scrap Iron Flotilla" ![]() Hope this helps. I have lots of resources if you have detailed, specific questions but what you want is readily available in Janes Tas |

O.k, perhaps I'll just go for the Home fleet instead. So how many BB's & cruisers in the Home Fleet? ![]() |

Permanent asisgnment of escorts was mostly unachievable due to refit/repair/maintenance cycles. Escort Groups tended to be more stable though (such as CAPT "Johnnie" Walker's legendadry U-Boot Hunter-Killer Group) |
