We have a pretty damn useless 486DX2/80 on ISA/EISA motherboard here at the bureau, and it just struck me that if I managed to overclock the thing a bit it might actually be of some use...
Does anybody of you know any adresses of sites dealing with overclocking such old stuff?

Good Luck! I have found that overclocking is a hit and miss affair, sometimes the component can handle it, sometimes not.
Make sure you have adequate cooling, that is NO. 1 priority.

Stormseer, yes, I know, Google. But I first wanted to know if any of the folk here has got any experience with the procedures needed.
The crappy PC at the bureau (boss said "do whatever you want with this junk") is a testing ground. If I manage to get it running, then next step will be overclocking my own hardware.
Currently the poor thing is not even capable of playing a CD-quality MP3 on full-quality playback (and without any programs running in background!) without serious skipping.
Iblis, we have some better radiators and coolers left over in there, so in theory I could stuck on a serious radiator originally meant for P133-166 and a decent cooler (or two).

My brother o/c a celeron 300mhz up to 450, and he had to open the case front and use a 10 inch fan to keep the thing cool. Course, it was a dual celeron motherboard, both chips o/c.  As far as I know , at least one of the processors is still running, four years strong.

ps I have a stock cooler and fan from my AMD Athlon 1900 box that I'll send you if you think it will fit.

It's only overclocking an 80 Mhz CPU to about, like, 100-120 Mhz. I don't think it would produce that much heat...

Probably not. Remember, I am used to dealing with my Xp 1900 and Xp 2500 , both of which can fry an egg quite nicely if you stuck a pan on them. Been a long time since I used a.... wait a minute, I have a P2-100 , mb and ram (256 i think) in the closet. Want them? I have the case and power supply also, but shipping would be prohibitive on them.

I actually threw my Pentium 120 PC out, took it down the tip...
It still worked, but was very very slow!!!
