Had an odd thing happen about two months ago. I found out that one of the guys at the FLGS gets tired of his stuff every once in a while and tosses it out.
Yes, you read it right, throws the minis, rules etc in the can and stats over.
I asked him why, and he said it was because he did not want to deal with it.
So I offered to beat him next time if he did not allow me to at least sell it off on ebay etc.
Fast forward to Sunday, this guy walks up to me and hands me a box. It has his Epic IG army in it. Most of it is painted. Most of it is Forge World. More then 150 pounds (about $285 USD). I could hear the little guys give a sigh of relief knowing they were not going to a dump.
Seems like he is done with Guard and wants to do Space Marines. So I have taken on the task of selling off his guard army.
What really blew my mind was as others heard why he was giving me his guard army, two more people admited to tossing minis in the past.
I am just sick thinking about it.
What I wanted to know here is:
Do you know anyone who has done this in the past?
Do you?
Why would you rather toss then sell?
Anyway, let me know, because I just do not get it.

Oh my God, the horror, the agony. I don't know of anybody else that throws out Epic, though I'm sure people do. I do know a guy that works down the council dump who is forever coming across brand new stuff (monopoly games, still in cellophane etc) all the time. Complete madness.

Some of us really hate ebay.
The act of selling can be more hassel than it's worth. I sometimes feel that way. I often don't through stuff away, but I have given lots away.
I gave away two epic marines armies when I decided to make my marines more managable.
Take Care

Hi,
I think I'll set up Freshmetal's Home for Retired Miniatures. A voluntary organisation that will put all unwanted minis to good use.
I'm so glad that I convinced my brother to keep all of his old SM1/2 era stuff rather than throw it out. I've got so many bitz from it.
Cheers, Freshmetal

Only case if I'd throw away a miniature would be that the model got so heavily damaged so its beyond any repair - might happen when I am cutting bitz for conversions, that some part or two are rendered useless chunks of plastic, or with some really bad spray paint/ paint remover accident. But even then, I usually keep the bitz, for they might be a bit useful.

I've only ever thrown minis out when they are reduced below the size of a pin head! Seriously: I keep several Epic Heads in my bitz box!
Cheers!
