Hi all.
I just returned from my holidays last night and as promised here's a quick resume of what I've been doing for the past couple of weeks.

It started out on june 26th when I went to Copenhagen to visit a friend and watch what was to be Swedens last game in the European Soccer Finals.
Early next morning we went to Roskilde only to stand in line for 8 hours to get into the Festival. ?No worries though: We'd been looking forward to this event for so long that nothing was going to bring us down.

The weather started out nicely but the second morning we woke up to heavy rain. Still no problems since we had a pretty solid big tent set up on high ground which would keep out most of the water. ...And of course there's no problem so big it can't be solved with sufficient consumption of beer. :;):

Morale did however start to lower when the entire camping area was transformed into a 15cm layer of sticky mud. To top it of one of the top names: David Bowie had to cancel ?due to a bad shoulder (Though I prefer to think it was because of the lollipop stick he got in his eye.) ...More beer was definitely going to be needed!

On thursday the concerts began.
I went to see the Pixies, Iggy Pop, Ben Harper, Santana, Franz Ferdinand, Basement Jaxx + a couple of Danish bands (there was probably some more but I can't really remember :p )
By now the entire festival area had turned into somthing right out of the trenches of WW1 or the WW2 Eastern Front. ?The entire lower camping area had become a huge lake and everythinig else was just covered in stinking mud -including the people (actually I'm not really sure if it WAS in fact people or Feral Orks! :D )

All in all a great -if rather wet- festival. As long as we had our Beer Bong and plenty of beer we were happy. Looking forward to next year!

After a quick (and much needed) shower i flew to Paris to meet with the rest of my family. Paris is always a pleasure to visit and after spending a couple of days there we drove to Normandy.
Ironically the weather here was almost as bad as Roskilde but of course that's less of a problem when you are going to see historical sitesand museums most of the time anyway.

Saw Omaha Beach, the Arromanches (sp?) Bayeux and Mont Saint Michel omong other things. All very interesting places. The WW1 and 2 memorials were of course intersing but I also enjoyed the medieval sites very much. Mont Saint Michel was particularly impressive!
The Bayeux tapestry which depicts William the Conqueror's campaign in England is definitely also worth a visit.

Still a couple of weeks worth of holidays left which I'm going to spend here in Denmark. The weather if getting better but in case it should start to rain again there's allways plenty of Epic minis which need painting :;):

Cheers! :)

Thanks guys.

NetEpic: Pixies rocked! ...but It was a bit weird to see how old they had become (You kindda don't expect that kind of screaming from what looks like a nice middle aged man)

L4: I saw posters for King Arthur. Is it worth a look? Personally I think this whole epic legends turned into movies is getting a bit over the top but if it stays true to the original legends without too much "Hollywood nonsense" it definitely looks promising. The whole Arthur and Grail legends myth has allways held a special place in my heart.

Cheers! :)

Hmmm....maybe we need a 'Movie Review' section just for movies, old and new?
Any thoughts????

YES ! ?This is the best version of the legend yet, IMO. ?And the most "historically" accurate, save for a few instances. ?Oh ... and no Grail ! ?Check it out boys !  Worth a look ! :;):  And check out the History Channel shows about it, too ... very enlightening.   :D

Trailers make it look a bit Hollywoody, Lancealot wielding twin shortswords. Guinivere with a longbow wereing bondage gear (I am a massive fan, can't wait to see the movie) and Merlin.

I am expecting Pirates of the C-word (I am dyslexic btw) with swords and armour...

Wow, more Pixies fans, I was beginning to think that we'd pretty much died out.....The King Arthur movie trailers seem a bit off-putting to be honest but I'll be going anyway....off to see Shrek 2 today.

As I said "save for a few instances" ... Uniforms, weapons, etc. appear accurate, and this is a much "grittier" interpretation.  Artorius Castus (sp.?) is no knight in shinning armor, it takes place around 450 AD, about the time the Romans were leaving the British Isles.  This is much more of a historical "take" than the previous incarnations.  Plus the History Channel talks about History vs. Hollywood vs. myth and legend.  The movie (save for the few things mentioned) is pretty "realistic".  But it's just my opinion, I'm no expert.  Like with gaming rules ... do what works for you ! :;):

Haven't seen the film yet but it does look closer to the RomanoBritish culture of the time.As a Celt it will be nice to see all those Saxon and Angle bodies flying
Oh Netepic, I'm dyslexic as well. Can you tell me why they made the word so bloody hard to wrap our heads around?
Cheers.
