Anyone got any tips on how to flock Epic miniatures? I have to flock my army as my Dark Angels will be appearing in several battle reps for Incoming! and they are facing Doug's Tau (which are painted to such a scary standard that I am bound to be put to shame ![]() Other than that, guess I will have to computer enhance them ![]() The tables at the club are green flocked, although I think desert flocking looks better with Dark Angels.... I also noticed that Dougs Tau are based on a rocky scheme with sparse shrubs patches of grass (From Incoming #16) so I probably ought to do something temparate to find in with the cloth and opponent - any ideas on how to spice it up? There isn't much room on the bases as they are Epic40k ones and are fully populated. |

personally I flock, paint, drybrush and then add some woodland scenics ![]() however for my Warmaster Goblins I have just used GW sand (which has little rocks in) and some static grass ![]() |

Personally, for most of my recent models I have: 1). Glued layer of sand to the base 2). Painted sand w/ watered down Bestial Brown 3). Drybrushed Bleached Bone 4). Tidied up mistakes + painted base edge Bestial Brown 5). Glued little clumps of static grass to the base, and added some lichen... Looks good imho, but bear in mind it is for a desert style board- have a look at GW's LOTR minis for a similar style of basing that fits in a little better with a grassy surface... ![]() |

Paint the base the color you want, when dry, brush/cover with watered down Elmer's/PVA glue, then drip in flock, wait, shake off excess ... add bushes, stones, etc. with Super Glue later ... |

And don't forget the Fuller's Earth cat litter for boulders and rocks....or pepper for gravel (sneezy miniatures!). |

I've actually become rather lazy lately & have once again started to NOT use sand on epic armies & use a variety of Train flocks & static grass instead. Its obviously not toobad a tecnique as its the basing style chosen by fanatic for the new Swordwind Eldar. I use Peco flock, mixed 50/50 between PS-7 Light Earth and PS-5 Dark Earth (the sad thing is I knew this withot checking....). Just paint the base brown, add glue & flock. When its dry, add patches of static grass as required. The mix of flocks for the Earth means you get some nice variety in shades but dont need to worry about painting or drybrushing between figures on a tightly packed bases. Basically, its a decent cheat method ![]() |

Tuffskull- that sounds a good method. I like the idea of mixed 2 earth colours. Have you got any pics of Epic figures done using this method? Cheers James |

Afraid I dont have any pictures of epic figs as such that I can show at this time, but the warmaster Brettonian Sorceress on my site was based with this method: |

Bought the exact same ingredients - desperately hoping that if I can't do Tuffskull quality painting, I might be able to raise the standards somewhat with the basing ![]() |

If Tuffskull was sponsored by PECO do you think he would have to flock his outfits every time he went to conventions? Could get kinda itchy. |
