It happens that to use Diablo in my school I have the permission, at least out of lesson hours, which is OK.
Now tha problem is that I have already found out how to make Diablo run w/o installing the thing on HDD (install on different PC and then pack the directory on a floppy ), but the access to drive C:\ is restricted. Now, does anybody know how to make Diablo save its' savegame files into its own directory rather then C:\Windows\ directory? I guess it's something simple, like swapping the code responsible of locating system directory with one responsible for locating Diablo directory, but I don't know where these are in the program file.
Can anybody here help me?

Hi!
Hopefully Tom, will have some insight, I'm not sure all games give you and option where to put save games.

Diablo detects Windows directory in some way... I think that altering the code running this detection to detect Diablo directory instead would work (I already managed to change multiplayer savegame name template, so this is just one step further).

Well, it seems that patch v 1.09 from Blizzard did the trick.

Have fun anyway.. I used to love Diablo, and got up to a level 26 super-character with my Warrior... ah, happy days...

I hacked into the main program file and altered stat level limits, so each of the main stats can reach max value of 255.
Currently my Warrior is level 35 (or was it 37?), and I'm considering writing rules for a quick combat RPG game that is based on Diablo.
