Hi!
Thats happened to me a few times, thats why I've tried to set up a good amount of defenses. Nothings fullproof, but better than nothing.

Quote (iblisdrax @ 27 2004 Feb.,15:27) | Hmmm....do I smell a Mac user round these parts? | Actually I am a multi-OS user.
Today I was using
Mac OS 10.2.8 Mac OS 10.3.2 Windows XP Professional Windows XP Home Windows 2000 Windows 98 PocketPC 2003
Most of the viruses that are around these days are worms which are "caught" when you open an executable attached to an e-mail.
Oh the days when we had all those boot viruses on floppy disks!

Hi!
To add some of my computer woes, my desknote just died on me. It had a good run for about 18 months of constant pounding, dropping and being on everyday for at least 4 hours on weekends up to 12 hours.
I hardly even used my desktop anymore.
Anyone have recommendation for a good laptop?

Quote (primarch @ 01 2004 Mar.,22:24) | Anyone have recommendation for a good laptop? | I have personally used and would recommend an Apple PowerBook.
Though if you must go down the Windows route, I have had a Sony VAIO PCG-SRX41P for well over two years and it has never let me down. It used on a daily basis and has been lugged around all over the country. Some might it a little small with only a 10.4" screen and maybe a little slow with a 850MHz processor, but it is perfect for my needs. Sony do seem to make very good laptops.
I have recently had a look at the new Toshiba 17" laptops and they look very tasty, 3GHz P4 processors, DVD burners, 17" widescreen , built-in speakers, really really nice.

Hi!
I'll look into the toshibas, they sound very good.
I'm getting away from AMD processors, since they are now locked irreversibly there is no point in buying them.
I'll belong to intel now....

Hi!
I was pro-AMD too iblisdrax. Every computer I have ever own had an AMD processor.
But the locked (irreversibly) the processors and you cannot overclock anymore. Ironically you can overclock the high end pentium processors better. Of course you can overclock AMD's athlon 64's, but the price....shudder...
Its just not worth the money anymore.

the athlon 64 processor is very good but not much use if you are not a gamer. It would be just a waste of money.
I am gaming a lot so when I upgraded I went for the big one. Amazing!
