Its amazing how many different types of people use crowdfunding, especially when it comes to games. I think a lot of the really sucessful ones are by developers and game makers who want to fast track things(Mantic), or have more creative control(Double Fine). It is great to see other stuff that would never have happened without crowd funding though. Those are the things I'm most happy to see, as it brings the best(although often the most charismatic) underdog creators to the fore. Exploding Kittens, as far as I'm aware is by a group of people who didn't have any real capital, or much of a name for themselves, which is great. I'd comment on the Ukraine crowdfunded army thing, but I'm not sure if it is allowed on these boards. |
