I just can't get over how much I love this book. And it will probably be THE reason I will start a BFG fleet. I would love to hear your thoughts on this wonderful book. A question for those who have read it: In Book One, Captain Semper tricks Morrau into being so damaged that Morrau closes in only to have Semper turn face and fire his torpedos. Why couldn't have the Contagion (Hades class) fire his weapons when Morrau saw that it was a trick? |

The real reason: plot device. The fluff reason: Each turn in Gothic represents about 15 minutes. So, while the torpedoes were ready and armed, the forward lances (?) will take a while to power up... I guess. Very cool book. Look out for the sequel - Shadow Point. |

Hi! When I read it I thought the reason was that there needs to be a powering of the weapons to fire. They had no time since the Macharius already had the torpedos loaded. Primarch |

Shadow point is not as good as execution hour (which is second only to the gaunt novels). |

Yeah, Execution Hour is a quality book, it really has a great feel and fits well with the BFG game rules in most instances; it is also suitably dark and gothic... I just loved the descriptions of the ships and the fantastic battles...  Highly reccomended! |

I hate to be a "yes" man, but I must also agree  . "Execution Hour" was the first GW novel I read and also the one to get me hooked to 40k and WHFB literature.Unfortunately I've so far only found one GW book, which is about as good. By some strange coincidence it is the "Zavant" which, BTW, is written by the same author...  I haven't read "Shadow Point" yet, so there's still some good things in the future, I hope.Since I started rambling about GW books, I might as well say a little of the other books. The rating comes from comparsion to the "Execution Hour", which is my personal bechmark for GW literature. Close, but not quite category: -Trollslayer & Skavenslayer -Space Wolf series -Words of Blood (short stories) -Crucible of War (short stories) -Angels of Darkness (yes, yes, I _know_ this has been written by Gav, but his writing has improved a LOT since the 13th legion came out, and I was _really_ surprised about it myself  )-Nightbringer -Warriors of Ultramar Entertaining, but clearly inferior: -Gaunt's Ghosts -The rest of Gotrek & Felix series -Blood Money -Deathwing (with the exception of the short story "Deathwing" itself, it is in the above category) -Lords of Valor -The Dead and the Damned Wouldn't have touched if I had known... -Konrad Trilogy (starts from nowhere and ends before the story is finished...) -Ministrel Orfeo -Eye of Terror -Dark Imperium (short stories) -Status: Deadzone -Wine of Dreams ARRRGGGHHHH! THE PAIN!!! -13th Legion |

Well, since we have moved on to general books, I will move this to the general discussion board. I have found that the authors for GW are fairly consistant, whether you like them or not. Gordon Rennie and Dan Abnett are both favourites of mine. Isnt Savant one of the Inquisitor trilogy? You are advised to check out the series of these. I really like both this series and the Gaunts Ghost books. And I actually really liked Eye of Terror - but I think that I am the person in existance who did! I also really liked Farseer (although there is not really much Eldar stuff in it) and Chaos World (is that what it is called - Chaos point of view on a planet 'liberated' by the Imperium). The Iron Warrior book was also excellent, but I didnt lik Nightbringer half as much. My least favourite by a long way is the Space Wolf first book - I couldnt bring myself to read any others in the series. |

Erm, I am not sure how to respond, your opinion is your own and is always correct, but I suggest to anyone wanting to read any GW novels that you should Read either Necropolis, Guns of Tanith or Execution Hour, the three best they have. Closely followed by the inquisitor series! Clearly Inferior!, Huh!, the mand daemon possessed, I'll put a vox in to my bretheren in the Ordo to contact the Grey Knight detachment to reclaim your soul for humanity!

Hi! I didn't like the Inquisition war series verry much, even though the first book "Draco" was one of the first GW books published back in the days, the last book "chaos child" was a chore to read and not very entertaining. A good book is Storm of Iron, about the Iron warriors, where chaos actually wins in the end, a refreshing change from all the "imperio-phile" books. Primarch |

Ahh, we have to be careful not to get confused here. The Inquisition series was Ian Watson was back with Squats and Hydra in it. I didnt really like any of this series, and I hated the end. The Inquisitor series is the trilogy by Abnett - much better! |
