I tried using some GW snow for a trial base of Space Wolves a while ago - and it's fine for 28mm but looks decidedly... carpet like on smaller scale models.
Is there a finer snow to use that you guys favour?

The finest stuff is the Woodland Scenics snow, I believe. I haven't heard great things about it but I have used it on some scatter terrain. It works alright so long as you're not looking to make drifts (do that with putty or something). I have some Army Painter snow that I saw planning on using for Warmaster. It's bigger pieces, might be too big for Epic though.
