Hello.

I hope you don’t mind, but I wanted to tell you a bit about The Wargames Website.
It is an online wargames magazine dedicated to promoting and sharing all that is good about wargames.

We have a front page news section where companies can get their news and releases posted.

We have forums where people can discuss the various aspects of the hobby, including console games and board games etc.

We have an articles section where we publish interviews and articles relating to the hobby.

We have also just added the Event Calendar too, so people can find all about what shows are near them or that may be of interest.

There is topic reply notification, board subscription, private messages that keep all previous replies so you can follow the messages easily and so on.

It is very much about creating a friendly and helpful community.
No politics, no trolling or flame wars.

It is very new still, being only just over a month old but already we have over 800 registered users, 48 of whom are traders.
The forums have over 530 topics and over 3350 replies.
Last month we saw 28,986 hits on the site.

If you can spare a few minutes, would you take a look and maybe consider joining up?

This looks like a great idea. Let me know if we can help contribute here.

Thanks chaps.

I want to create a friendly website where companies can post their new releases and people can share their love of the hobby in the forums.
A lot of people are fed up with the moderation on some other sites and we are providing an alternative to such sites.

Please treat it like a second home, post your pictures, share your AARs and all the things you would do on other sites, but on TWW you will get less drama and more enjoyment.

I hadn't looked before, or passed it around to friends, because of the concern it would be just another "that other site". This reassures me somewhat, sounds like you're starting on the right foot with the right intentions.

Signing up now. :)

Edit - Just one thing though, please don't continue the policy of sending username and passwords in plain text to the registered email. Getting that email made me shudder and strongly reconsider the supporter option.

It could not be anything less like it.
That is my intention.

Things like this will not be happening a TWW:

Deleting all those replies and altering the OP so it no longer says what the poster actually typed...?

Also the forum rules should give an idea what we are gunning for:

The thing is, that Bill took my deciding to leave TMP very personally and started calling me names.
He banned people that came out in my defence and now bans links to Blast-Tastic! and TWW.
He locks accounts that mention the show or me sometimes??!

Join TWW and stick a post up about your site.
On TWW if it is about games it is ok.

Filth? Jesus tap dancing Christ. If that's par course at TMP any lingering ideas about joining up the are gone.

Best of luck on the new site!

Because I'm so quiet and non-confrontational, it'll come as a huge surprise when I tell you that there has never been a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.

Seriously, people from Mos Eisley look at the place now and go "dayum!..."

Mos Eisley would be an improvement

Ah right, the filth thing is actually what Bill of TMP called me when I very nicely announced I was leaving TMP.
I think Slapper of Kittens is taking the mick out of Bill.

If you have the notion, it all kind of started here:

Well anyways let's not gak this thread up with whatever happened for whatever reasons and wherever because frankly I don't care. I was just shocked at the very public airing of dirty laundry instead of shutting down crap threads like that.

So what's the general plan for the TWW?

Key features:

A wargaming site ‘edited’ in UK times which is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
A wargaming site that is run, edited and moderated by people with a genuine interest in the subjects discussed.
A wargaming site that makes sharing your love of the hobby easy and fun.
A wargaming site that makes it easy for traders and manufacturers to get their news out to the wargaming community.
A wargaming site that is safe to use for all ages of gamer.
A wargaming site that respects all opinions (even if we do not all agree all of the time).
A wargaming site that respects all people.
We adhere to Wheaton’s Law and we expect you to do the same!

Abusive conduct, discrimination and bullying etc are not allowed. Anyone found to be trolling or purposefully ruining the experience for other users may well be banned.

We would also like to keep swearing to a minimum so check out the forum rules available at the top of each board. We encourage expressive writing and freedom of speech but we would like to ensure the site is family friendly.

So what can you do on the site?

As a Standard Member you can of course read the news, comment on forum topics and news items, start your own topics in the forums, share your latest work and solicit opinion on anything related to gaming,

If you choose to go that one step further you can become a Sponsoring Member of The Wargames Website. A small monthly fee paid will enable us keep the site running and will grant you access to areas of the site and forum that non sponsoring members can’t access. This includes the Magazine section which is where we will be posting articles and the Private Messaging functionality.

Traders and Manufacturers can join as Trader Members and as such will have access to the super-secret Traders section of the website. This level of membership includes additional forum boards and the ability to submit news stories.

Plans for the future.

When the site grows we want to hire an editor outside of the UK (perhaps in the USA or Australia) to enable us to offer more round the clock support.

The ability for Traders to directly manage your own advertising by uploading your own banners and accessing your stats in real time.

And more…. we are open to suggestions so let us know what we could do better, more or at all!

Essentially though, to be a website for talking about wargames, boardgames, CCGs, etc, all the things us geeks like to do, but in a tolerant and respectful environment.
With a hobby news section where companies advertise their newest wares and a magazine section with articles connected to wargames.
