So bad I want to laugh. They try to distract you by emphasizing that production was outsourced to Egypt (other articles do so more than this one, actually), but that’s just wishful thinking. I’m in the building industry and the norm for fancy stonework is to design here and have the labor done abroad.

Anyway, a city on Ohio commissioned a Korean War memorial and the company they contracted outsourced the design to a company in Georgia. They came up with this, and no one on the city’s committee noticed that most of the images from the wrong wars. The large images of the helicopter and battleship appear to be correct, but they’re hardly the first thing you think of when someone mentions the Korean War. Especially not the battleship.

Is that really true? Disgraceful and disrespectful if so.

Wow. The fuckers weren't even close. I had two uncles in that war, I hope they don't see this; They'll bust a head gasket

That's completely disrespectful and is also just plain lazy and ignorant.

How the hell could this happen? Did no one with a scrap of military history knowledge review the design before the memorial was completed?

Nor could they be bothered by cracking open a book with some Korean War pictures in it, or typing "Korean War" into the search box on google images. It's not like a Korean War memorial hasn't been done either. There's one right next to the Vietnam Wall in DC... The designer compounded his ignorance with laziness.

This depresses me.

Evidently that's actually how the Egyptian company that actually made it got screwed up in the first place. I'm less concerned about a foreign company getting it wrong as opposed to at some point multiple people and groups signed off on the work. At no point did anyone notice the modern tanks and modernish jets? Jesus tap dancing Christ [shakes head]
