Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone has any experience playing the Imperator, whether its from Titan Legions or Epic 40k. Not sure if there are even rules for it in Epic A (dont have the rulebook near at the moment and I cant remember whats in the back of the book). I've played against it, but never actually played one. Well, I managed to recently pick up a nice Titan Legions set, and with it the Imperator. I might try to play it with the Titan Legions rules, but it seems so complicated to manage, and I can't see how anyone would take it WITHOUT the Tech Guard Defence Company, and those two equal like 2650 points alone. So I know it requires a big game to use one, not just for the other player, but for the player playing them, since there is no way it would be able to take many objectives. So I guess was also wondering the point values for the armies being played. Anyone ever bring one down? In the game I played, I lost everything I put up against it. We managed to win the game (2 players per side), but it crushed everything it faced. |

there are rules for Epic:Armageddon, but I think they're pretty experimental Back in the days of SM2 I used to take it with a marine battle company, assaults in the legs for objective grabbing, tactials above for support fire and devs in the towers, also stick a chaplain on the bridge and if you're extra paranoid, I used to take a stormhammer company and two support cards of ogryns to act as bouncers.... |

There are rules in the epic:a rulebook for the imperator, but no point value. We do have both the Imperator and Warmonger in the AMTL list for around 1250 points. |

There are a few reports with it, most recently from the bristol warmer. Take a look in the adMech forum battle reports thread. You should find some reports. ![]() |

It really is a beast for 4k and above. I have, many a long year ago, during early testing taken a Warmonger. I did warn my opponent and he came suitably tooled up with Shadowswords, Death Strikes and Vultures. Fun game, but only because we planned for it. I'm playing NetEA AMTL tomorrow, and although I have a 3k list which squeezes an Imperator into it, I want to test out some other bits in this game. |

I've used the Imperator in a 3k game before, and its performance was underwhelming. Not so much because it ate up so many activations. Just the damage output wasn't quite what I was expecting from a 1250 point model. I was sort of expecting to one-shot pretty much any formation I aimed at with it, and that didn't happen. I think I even failed to break a Leman Russ tank company with it. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but if you're paying 1250 and giving up a ton of activations, I guess I just expected more bang. |

Sounds like its over-valued in EpicA then. Maybe 1000 points? The thing is that its really supposed to be dominant, and if it cant knock out a Leman Russ company... Its pretty weak. I know in SM2/TL they would probably all get wiped out. |

It varies based on opponent. A list with one recently did very well in a tournament. They are appropriately prices at 1250 and maybe slightly undercosted. |

Well I happen to be looking at the Chaos Black Crusade list an see a Banelord cost 800 points. Dont know anything about what it can do, nor the Imperator in EA, but in TL, the Imperator was 2250 points and the Banelord 900, so it looks like the EA version is waterdowned? Which I know in EA it would be pretty hard to throw 2000+ at a single unit, but I'm just wondering how they play, not trying to be critical. |

With the recent discussions and implementation of the points formula, it was found that the imperator was grossly under-priced in SM2 (and thus net epic). The real cost was deemed to be over 4000 points! It does not surprise me since in net epic/sm2 the Imperator could wipe the floor with virtually anything. Basically its overpowered in that game system for the points. Primarch |

Has anyone seen one taken down? I've never heard of an instance. I mean you could still win a game and not actually destroy it. I was thinking how you could take one down, and I thought about using as many titans as you could, and arm each with a vortex missile (in SM2/TL you could only give titans one of these). Figure a warlord battle group costs 1500 for 3, and reaver battle group for 1000 for 3, I imagine that would be a pretty cool fight. |

I have a vague memory of seeing go down ONCE (in over 18 years since its release). Lucky shot with a -1 TSM weapon on the leg. Rolled snake eyes. ![]() The save on 2d6 is what makes it nearly invulnerable. Even vortex missiles with a -6 TSM means a save of 7+ on 2d6. That an average roll for 2d6 for the most powerful of weapons! I have seen it wipe the floor with cmpanies of warlords (3), reavers (3), gargants (3), great gargants (2) and phantoms with double pulsar (3). This alone tells me it is grossly under priced. However if you place it at around 4250, it all makes sense. Its the equivalent of THREE mega-gargants and over FIVE warlords!!! Primarch |

That was interesting! And I took a look around the site and checked out the other stuff there. Very impressive armies! The d-day beach invasion is awesome!! Love the city terrain too. Where did you get the roads from? SpeakerToMachines wrote: KTG17 wrote: Okay this is it??? No one plays this guy yet he sells for big bucks on ebay?!?! COME ON PEOPLE! I want some battle reports!!
