Hello everyone,

just wanted to spread the word here, I'm currently fundraising for my friend's son Oliver who is terminally ill with leukaemia, after 2 relapses....

As I'm a perpetual pauper, I decided the only way I could help was to do something, and as I'm quite a lardy chap, I've elected to undergo a 'sponsored slim' over the next 4 weeks (ending March 19th) I'm aiming, through diet and exercise to lose as much weight as I can (obviously I'll continue afterwards!) and I'm asking for sponsorship, it can be on a per-pound lost basis, lump sum or whatever you like.....

I'll be weighing myself every few days with my Wii Fit thingy, my start weight is a hugely embarassing 123Kg, but so far in the last week I've managed to lose just shy of 2Kg (4lbs for the un-metrically inclined amongst you)

I'm collecting for an amazing charity called the NC TLC Trust (http://www.nctlctrust.com/) these are an amazing group of people, who have supported Oliver and his family throughout, even spending their own money to take them on days out and for meals

the website for donation is golden giving and my personal fundraising page is here

Finally if you want to learn more about Oliver and his struggle, he has a facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/OneLittleLifeInspiresEveryone

Edit: now you can follow my progress at my shiny new blog here

thanks for reading

I assume foreign donations are accepted? Will be pledging some fundage shortly!

edit: appears to not accept foreigners on your page. should I give someone a ring to throw my wallet at them?

if anyone is interested, I've so far lost over 7lbs (or 3.5Kg in real money) in the last 9 days, I've been eating plenty including a cooked breakfast every day, and trying to get in 30 mins Wii fit at least 5 nights per week, for proof check my blog (linked in the OP) :D

Hi everyone,

I thought I'd update this thread, Ollie was rushed to hospital earlier today after having a 5 minute seizure, he's currently on oxygen and continual diazapam, and Doctors are saying he may not survive the night

while this is completely tragic, I wanted to thank everyone here who has supported him and his family.

Through donations like yours and the genuine kindness of so many people, he and his family have managed to have such a fun-packed time together, he's ridden in chitty chitty bang bang and even met the queen! (well Helen Mirren in full queen mode...) he's been showered with love and attention every step of the way and these past few months have been special, which is no less than he deserves

None of you had to do this at all, the fact that you read his story and wanted to help really says so much about what a truly wonderful group of people make up this tiny wargaming community

Thankyou, from the bottom of my heart, you have made such a difference to the life of a child

-Simon

My sincerest condolences to you and to Ollie's family. I'm glad you were able to help him have such happy times over the last few months.

Only saw this thread because of this latest update. Very sad news - my thoughts are with Ollie's family. Well done for doing what you can to have made things a little better for them and helping to add to the special memories they will have of him.
