I got into the hobby after the release of Epic Space Marine, and it was the first game I bought. In 1994, same year I got married......

...you remember WD armies using a single flat colour to paint entire formations.
...you don't do a second take when beast-men take up arms for the emperor.

You're familiar with the tactic of blowing up a building and then occupying it with troops.
You still want to aim for the titan's reactor.
You start to deploy drop-pods by placing cardboard tokens on a blast-template, holding it a foot or so above the table and then flipping it over.
You remember getting Matchbox (read 'small, toy' if not from UK) cars, painting them (badly) and gluing guns all over them in order to use them in a game of 'Dark Future'... which was set in the distant year of 1995!!!

Also, I felt really old the other day when I realised I can remember when GW did roleplaying games. Warhammer was good, but I loved the Judge Dredd rpg they had! That ate up my teenage years until the arrival of Epic...

Block Wars for the win! To this day one of the most entertaining board games I've ever played.

less Epic (but we're digressing into general old skool anyways) but remember when you'd buy a tank and GW gave you the rules for iron a print out in the box and not requiring a $50 codex to use it?

You've had to explain why you have dice that say "LEFT" and "RIGHT," "UP" and "DOWN."

You remember when the Warlord titan was the largest, nay only, titan ever made.

You can estimate how many D6 you need to roll to hit with your Pulsa Rokkits.

You ask chaos players why they have no Primarchs in their army.
