Okay, so the subject is a bit misleading, but I wanted to explore something that I have been theorizing for a while now. Many countries have taken an economic downturn and for me personally this has had a significant impact on my hobby time. Of course there are other factors, but this is what I am curious about. Have you noticed a change in your hobby time? If so, how? And why? Please don’t get me all riled up about WHY the economy sucks or who is responsible. I’m just curious how widespread the changes are here. |

I've been in fulltime education for the entire downturn (and will be for next couple of years), so the economic situation has affected me less than others – as i have no money anyway ![]() The amount of time I could have spent on the hobby has probably been fairly static, i've just become horrendously lazy and complacent, so now regard myself as having very little hobby time. |

Over the past three years I've had a lot more hobby time than in the past, because I got divorced. Work usually doesn't affect how much free time I have, except for last year when I had job where I worked noon to 8 with a 45 minute commute each way. What has changed though is my disposable income. When I'm working, I have enough discretionary income to spend on new minis, game accessories, etc. When I'm looking for a new job, money is tight and I don't have the money to spend on games. I'm sure the economic downturn has made job hunting more difficult. So, right now I have a more time to spend gaming, but fewer resources to spend on gaming. |

Time hasn't become limited for me, but thanks to my wages being frozen for the past 3 years and the cost of living creeping up and up, I've had very little in the hobby budget, I've gotten by so far by selling my warhammer collection off and using the money to buy epic minis |

I have never had a huge amount of hobby time, but recently (last two years or so) I have had less. However, this is less about the economy and more about personal situations changing and priorities shifting a little. |

I have more time and less resources due to lack of work/job/employment ... ![]() |

Unfortunately I have to say, all three of the top options are bogging me down right now. I have a free lance project, class, and comissions as well as helping my wife prepare for a show all hitting at the exact same time. After december I hope to have this all sorted though with this being my last class and I won't be accepting any new commissions after I finish out what I have at least until I make significant headway on my own projects. |

I've still been able to make time for my hobby but spending seems to vary with the cost of fuel for me, my car is certainly taking more money from me than I'm happy with. |

I've found time has shrunk significantly; mostly due to incoming new family members... I'm doing less travelling for games now, and trying to convince those who I game against to travel to me - again, purely to maximise the time available to me. Money hasn't been tooooooo badly affected.... Cheers Reedar |

Work is largely unaffected by the recession, gaming time has increased as the twins get older (full time school now) and appear (touch wood) to be over their wheezing problems. |

Sales have been down in 2012 compared to 2011 which means I've spent more time on SCP's consultancy business. They are picking up again, this month has been very busy order wise on the EW front. However, saying all that work on the EW rulebook has pretty much annihilated any free time between consulting jobs. Lisa and Claire have been able to keep on top of orders and restocks. |

I'm lower on hobby time due to a new baby and getting married in 6 weeks. I still have a fair amount of time available but it's not going in to Epic playtesting as I don't see much point in working on NetEA affiliated lists nowadays. Timeline 300 or just plain old playing EUK epic (that being the default in these parts) is getting my time now. |

For me it's been RL issues that have seriously hampered any time I could have spent playing with Toy Soldiers; some mental helath issues and an unhealthy relationship certainly haven't helped! On a more ECONOMIC basis though: I've just got a new better paying job, am moving into a cheaper house and have left the above relationship recently; even now I'm happily at home basing the remainder of my imperial guard: things can only get better!
