Hey folks!

For some time now I've been hoarding the spare metal from sprues etc for no reason I can think of. Being the curious type I weighed my bag of metal today finding it to be ~400grams. I know I have more attached to unused models as well.

So this begs the question, is this worth anything to anyone? Are any of the local modelers able to melt down and re-use this? Or should I just stop rambling and keep it to make my own coins when the apocalypse rolls around?

Not exactly what you were asking for but the best use suggestion I've heard yet is to use a cut off chunk of metal sprue as a shaker/agitator in GW paint pots. The idea being you add drops of water occasionally and shake them around to try to reduce the awful drying out problem with their last two versions of paint (their older paints were far superior as they dried out drastically less). I haven't tried this out yet, but am planning to soon as I have a big bag of metal sprue too.

people casting in metal would be interested, but many model designers actually outsource the actual casting.

You can actually sell it directly to the casters as raw metal.

My crabs came mostly unsprued. maybe you were bored that day?

I prefer using plastic agitators - less chance of a reaction poising the paint colour.

I tested GW metal sprue a while ago, melted and cast fine. Had a higher temperature than the stuff I use but can't really remember much more. Definitely usable for home casting.

I keep all my otter/evil sprue for this very purpose as well (although yet to actually use it, as i don't have enough)
