Seen on Dakka today that Rick Priestley has "left" GW in some fashion - either sacked or redundant or retired, not sure which. If so, it will be a real shame. I'm sure quite a few of us here grew up with his name prominent in White Dwarfs and rulebooks as author and designer of the games we love. Inventor of Warhammer and 40k along with a myriad other games (Warmaster, Necromunda, Man O'War, etc etc etc). Good luck, Rick - you'll be missed I'm sure :(

Thanks for everything, Rick.

May your dice always roll sixes.

From the topic title I thought you were saying he was dead!

Ha, perhaps you're right - have tweaked the title slightly...

Has he gone to Mantic games like everyone else?

I'd expect to see him work with Warlord rather than Mantic... he's already collaborated with them once on their Black Powder ruleset.

Yeah, Warlord games makes use of some quality ex-GW staffers - Perry Twins, Rick, Paul Sawyer, Jervis. Definitely a company I'll keep an eye on.

So, another one bites the dust. Does GW have any talent left?

Its business plan does not require it...

I dunno, based on the dark eldar video they posted last week, Phil Kelly and Jes Goodwin seem like they have a good, thoughtful approach to things.

But then again, I haven't actually seen the DE codex yet.

GW have plenty of talent... it's just focused on making toys for kids, rather than games for all.

More talent to go around.

What kind of noncompete did he sign?
