What's goin' on people? Anyone remember me? I saw some new Epic minis on the Advance Orders section on GWs site and while I wasn't really impressed, I was curious how the game was going. I checked the Epic Playtesting site and noticed there were a bunch of rule ammendments being proposed since the release of the rulebook. Gee, that didn't take long. . . :(

Anyway, I really haven't played a game of Epic in ages. Actually, I've barely played anything. I've been buying though. I couldn't pass up on some great deals I stumbled upon. A gaming store near me had Bloodbowl, Mordheim, and Hybrid all on sale at Ebay prices, so I picked them all up. I have to admit that I was most impressed with Hybrid, and later picked up the expansion set Nemesis. Games Workshop could learn a thing or two from Rackham.

I also picked up 2 40k 3rd edition box sets for like $21 each. Just too good to pass up. I figured maybe years down the line I'd give them to a new friend if he was interested in playing since it cost me practically nothing to ge them. Hell, a Space Marine Tactical box set costs $30. I know 4th edition is out, but to be honest, 3rd edition is fine for non-competition games between friends.

Picked up a unopened Warhammer Quest box set on Ebay too. That costed me a bundle, but it was worth it to me. Sold my old one in like 5 seconds after posting it with Buy it Now. Surprisingly, my sew set came with Treasure Cards 1-3 and and extra set of Blank Event Cards. I couldn't believe it.

Anyway, I was cleaning out some stuff and stumbled on my Reavers and of course it brought me back to my old gaming days. It is definately my favorite miniature from any game system, ever.

Aside from that, I got a new job, got a new car (Mustang Mach 1 :) ), and just got approved from a loan for my first house. Finally moving up in the world. I am planning to have a den/work room/computer room where I can set up a gaming table 24/7.

I can't help but wonder if my big gaming days are forever done. I mean, having huge Epic games just doesn't interest me any more. I love the scale of Mordheim, Necromunda, and other skirmish games. Hell, I won't play 40k games over 500 points now.

Anyway, if you haven't checked out Hybrid, I recommend it. I wouldn't be surprised by it's short life span as games just don't last very long these days, but it's got a creepy feel to it and the minis and components are awesome. Very well made.

So what's been going on?

Hello Gandalf the Grey,

Nice to see you again. Yes, Jervis has posted some ideas for rules adjustments he would like to try out. From the start they said they would have a rules review one year from the release. These playtest experiament rules are so he can see if they are worth doing as part of the review.

As for your new events, congrats on the car and house. When you own the house it just feels different. :D

As for thinking you are done with Epic, I would say keep the minis for at least another 6 months. Sometimes you get burned out and want to try something new. Once you do, you realize later you miss the older game. For me, it has happened with D&D and Epic both. I have returned a few times to D&D.

Anyway, if after 6 months you still think you are done, I am sure there are people here who could help you liquidate your epic. :p

In any event, have a great week!

dafrca

Hi!

Hey Gandalf! Glad to see you around!

As with everything in life, interest expands and goes done, but as Dafrca says keep your stuff, its easier to sell it off as it is to buy it back.... :;):

and if you go here you can download a PDF which says

If you're still using the old rulebook, this PDF will allow you to try out the updated version of the game straightaway!

The rules have not changed much if at all...
