i don't know if you have followed the climate summit in copenhagen but we have a elected government that has goon berserk in law and order a police that is out of control but do not think that all danes are completely mad and fascist (count me out) i must admit i am a shame to live in a country that arrest peaceful demonstrators and abolishes "freedom of speech and expression" and habius corpus just to have peace in the streets and law and order

so from me a a sincer apology to the rest of the world for my countries behavior

I believe Tactical Command has a policy to not discuss politics on these forums.

Sounds like politics to me, too.

Yes in common with many wargames sites discussing maiming representations of people in a game is fine, discussing it happening in reality is not. Bit like the scene from Red Dwarf where bridge with the Goerings is fine as long as you don't discuss his work :)

I guess you could find a game depicting whatever you wish to talk about and discuss it through that? :)

I'd say they did exactly right.
When the G7(?) meeting was in Gothenburg (Sweden) havoc-wreckers caught the police by total surprise in speed and brutality.
Good job to pinch these out of the otherwise democratic demonstration in Copenhagen.

Looks to me like a heartfelt apology to what Duz sees as wrongs committed by his country's police in the eyes of the world (personally I sympathise but don't think any worse of an individual for something their country may have done).

He's clearly affected and frustrated by it and is apologising for it to the international peoples he chats to here , but his post doesn't set out to discuss the politics of it as such, so lets be overly short in out replies.

Admittedly the topic does have the potential to turn into a debate with political aspects, but it's probably best not to as our other views and backgrounds vary and this isn't really the place for it.

Well, there's no political pretence in say that the police did a great job in pinching off the AFA part cleanly as that.
If someone innocent happened to be there, **** happens. The demonstration itself shouldn't have allowed them to be there in the first place.

Whatever your opinion on a political matter (and this is a political matter), someone will disagree and eventually arguaments will start... in any case it would be better if this conversation ended here.

There are many internet forums for political discussion, but this is not one of them.

Ah yes, I can see where you're coming from there.
And me defending democracy to the end would end up against the wall...

This inevitably will become a political issue and thus better left discussed elsewhere.

For those not familiar with the story it is as follows: This weekend more than 1000 demonstrators have been detained by Danish policeas part of the COP15 climate summit. There had been some minor incidents before the major arrests, where part of the demonstration was isolated and detained. What is problematic is that these were in fact preemptive arrests, ie. people being arrested on the suspicion that they might cause trouble, which is shaky legal grounds both with regards to the constitution and the human rights. Of the more than 1000 people arrested, only 4 or 5 were actualy charged with anything. The rest were released the next day. Furthermore the police ran into logistical problems after arresting this many people at once, resulting in some detainees sitting on the freezing ground for 4-5 hours without access to food, drink or sanitation.

On the other hand, those elements arrested include many from activist groups such as CJA, and riot gear and effects for street fighting has been found, indicating that certainly not all protesters intend to use peaceful means. Another consideration to bear in mind is that with this many people on the street - many families with small children included - it would have been difficult to escape or disperse in case violence erupted somewhere.

I agree with Duz tht this is an unfortunate series of events no matter how you look t it, but I don't think this is the place to discuss what's right or wrong :)

I appreciate the frustration and sentiment behind this thread and post, and am pleased to see it discussed in an adult matter. The original purpose of this thread has therefore been achieved.
