bizarre Folks. I've never had issue with the search on the GW site. In fact I just typed in land raider an got plenty of results with the first being the 40k land raider. Same thing with archon. Got one result, the DE archon. Got the expected result when I typed in vindicator too.

Maybe there's some sort of Atlantic ocean requirement?

Or perhaps it works when you don't actually need to find the item :)

Damnit! I'm supposed to be the one making booby miniatures, not buying them from someone else!

(This is also a good candidate for Miniatures What Otterman Loves)

Hey! GW! Faster with the grey knights, please. They're the only space marine product I approve of.

You know what I hate? 3D CAD sculpted miniatures.

I hate how it enables clumsy people with 'stupid fingers' to make miniatures that look almost as good as traditionally sculpted miniatures.

I also hate how people with broken legs get around with crutches, and paraplegics get around with wheelchairs, instead of pulling themselves along the cold, hard ground as God intended.

Do you smell that? Smells like sarcasm.

To be honest, if that had been CAD i have thought it was cool, but, probably wrongly, i would have had far less appreciation of it than seeing it done in traditional materials. I hold nothing against CAD and am very grateful for the models that it (and the people who use it) gives me access to, but i see that mini as a far more impressive achievement as a traditional sculpt than CAD *hides*.

The offhand way that guy puts it is not on and too much of a generalisation... but ive also seen the CAD users on here (though not you) make little offhand remarks about traditionaly sculpted 6mm infantry that could be in the same boat going the other way.

It's an impressive model. The dedication and skill it takes to make that sort of thing by hand is not inconsiderable. It's an entirely different skill set than CAD.

Ultimately, I think that the medium is less important than the craftmanship that goes into a model. CAD is perhaps more forgiving than traditional materials, but the attention to detail and pride in the finished piece are what seperate the artists from the dabblers in both.

I think it's part of the human psyche to value handmade objects over manufactured ones, and that goes into this sort of judgement. It's still difficult for people to think of a file on a disk or a lovingly crafted piece of code as being art on the same level as a painting or sculpture, regardless of the fact that they often are. COmputer files are by their nature intangible, and the human mind deals with intangibility poorly. [/philosophy]

That may be, but a lot of GW's CAD sculpted 28mm stuff is kinda..... off.
I like the dragon, and I like everything I've seen produced here.
I'm just kind of in awe of anyone who can take an idea or a couple of sketches, add in some effort and come out with an actual solid product I can (and want to) hold in my hand.

Any examples? the new ork trukk is awesome, and (in theory) it means no more strange scales across the army (I'm looking at you Privateer Press).

Empire state troops are pretty poo, but not because of CAD. They're poo because whoever sculpted them didn't know the difference between a human face and a monkey face.

CAD is a tool, like any other, you still need to have skill to produce something good, especially when working with organics.

Both sweeping and inflamatory in a single sentence! ;)

I dont think that this is totally true at all.
