I don't know about the prices, but a long time ago I was given a piece of advice when it came to collecting that I think applies here. It comes from the idea that collecting is an activity based on personal satisfaction.
Buy based on what you like and whether it's worth the money to you. Hope the market favors you, but don't count on it.

If this is the same auction I was bidding on, then check the seller's feedback. The same seller has sold exodite lots at least twice before, and apparently given additional bidders second chance offers as well (I believe the seller has a BUNCH of figures, and is just selling them a few at a time - maybe he works for DeBeers).
I believe one set went for $355 to epiccollector.
A poster here (Magnus) also got a second chance offer a month or so ago for an exodite lot, so maybe he could fill in some info.
