Hi all,
bear with me on this one. I hate early Christmas/NY stuff, but I'm so fed up with the darned PhD that I'm DESPERATELY looking ahead.

The good news - for me - is that I might just manage to achieve the 2007 resolution: to get the PhD done. Apart from the viva, the examination, that is. Gulp! But the work will be done, unless I am required to add on more stuff to it.

Which brings me on to 2008, and an opportunity to get some decent modeling work done. I'll try not to exaggerate:

Take a nice break - no long holiday in sight, but at least a break from overload.

Start some serious writing.

Complete one force for Triumph and Tragedy - most likely to be White Russians from the Russian Civil War

Complete my Russian Iron Stars fleet

Complete a decent Aeronef fleet

Start either my Ottoman or my Venetian 15mm army.

Start my Land Ironclads troops and organise a force of sorts.

Paint (40K) Orks

Paint WHFB Undead

Paint up my Andrayads

Start and complete (ha!) one of my Epic armies. Which? IG  and CSM are in a messy state, as are the Orks. Eldar? Ad Mech? Tyranids? SMs? I think Ad Mech are the strong contenders - especially the knights.

Complete any models bought in December, and from then on start a last in first painted system.

I do think that's enough.... hopefully, by Dec 2008 I'll again be able to complain about how many projects I've not finished  :)

V, when you get your PhD done you MUST get your wife on a holiday leave. I think you two deserve it.

Then, about painting, i advise you to paint whatever takes minimun time (i.e., the smallest force of the ones you listed there). Trust me, there's nothing as appealing as finishing off an entire army project (although experiencie tells me that, when you finish off an army, you never get to use it anymore, so you have been warned!)

PS: did you receive my PM about Man O'War? i never got an answer... i think you sent it but my mail box was full

Wahoo, congrats on the PhD Van, stick it to em in the oral defence (assuming it's the same sort of system), you'll be fine I'm sure :)

I've managed far more in the way of extra curricular activities this year than I thought I would with all my study - all good! :)

Finishing Uni has definitely resulted in me getting a lot more done with my hobbies and various army projects!  After working so hard on something you get used to spending hours working away and suddenly replacing study with painting can result in a lot getting done.  I finished a whole 0 projects the whole time I was in uni.  In the four years since I have finished dozens of armies.

My new years resolution is to finish all of my Epic armies and to avoid buying any more stuff until it is all done.

Well, I need to drink less, dance less and in general be more subdued down the old local... but! Apart from that...

I have a load of Dark Angels that need painting up, I still need to work on my EW full Legion project and i've a Warhammer Empire army that needs some (alot of) paintwork done to it.

Thanks Yuber - I'll see if I still have the MoW business - I had replied, I think.
Er - I'm not done yet guys, still a month of writing to go... and yes, Markco, sounds like the same business - gulp!

Nothing appears in my mail box... maybe it hates me?

BTW, i'm always painting samurai (my epic armies are half way, but i half of my IG army is enough to play against anyone, so...), so i think my objective is to finish them all once and for all . I think that's going to be impossible, but anyway i have to try. Let me think... 10 ashigaru archers + 10 samurai + 20 ashigaru spearmen + 4 ninja + 6 heroes + a temple dog + a kirin... O_O! Better try to do it in two-three years time :p

Sorry Yuber - forgot to check whether it was still there and re-send it. Have just done so, but I do not have your question or my answer. Can you send it again please?

Good one, Otterman, and sorry to disappoint.
Wish I had the time to paint up an army for you - not that it would be good, still.... that gag deserved some sort of prize.

Hm... An army of Ottermen.... Now that WOULD look interesting on the table :D

New years resolutions? Well to be perfectly honest Ive quit setting any since I never seem to be able to keep them anyway... :p
IF iI had the time/resolve I'd really like ti finish the following projects though:

1 Zeppelin model... more thn a year overdue already...
2 Tyranid army... That was SUPPOSED to be a quick and easy project... *sigh*
3 Epic DArk Angles company. So close yet so far...
4 City board terrain pieces... got 5 tiles ready for paint. It really shouldn't be that hard...

Most will probably be repeats from '07, but here's what I'd like to accomplish in '08:

1. Paint more of my Squat army.
2. Paint more Knights, especially some MK I's, which so far I haven't touched.
3. Work on terrain.
4. Start another army, even if it's just primering a bunch of stuff.
5. Buy EW minis.
6. Start a Traitor Titan Legion. This might become part of #4, depending on how much free time I have.
7. Paint at least one side of my house. Two sides would be better.

Here I go:

1 - Get fitter (I need more muscles apparently).
2 - Finish painting my Cadian IG.
3 - Finish my 'sculpt everything' 'nid project.
4 - Make an offer to buy Epic off of GW.
5 - Learn to cook.

1) Finish painting the armies I currently have (Ork, L&tD, Black Legion, Dark Eldar, Demiurg and Phase III 'Nid
2) Start an Iyanden Eldar, given the huge number of Wraithguard I seem to have lying around.
3) play more games of epic.
