Source: http://warseer.com/forums....ns.html I spoke to Andy Hall at Games Day UK on Sunday. For the past few years, Specialist Games have had a release window every six months - a January release and a Summer release. The last of such releases was the Warmaster Araby release. However, I have now been told that GW do not intend to release any more models for the Specialist Games. Unless GW starts doing well again, the Specialist Games suddenly become popular, or there is some massive change in demographic, GW will not be creating new Specialist Games models ever again. It is the end of an era... Yup. If that is true (that is if someone confirms) SG is uhm.....retiring? |

I posted something similar about 6 months ago. GW sank huge amounts of funds into new stuff for 40K and Fantasy (Apocalypse, all the building stuff, etc.) and are low on cash flow until those start to pay off. As mini production is the most expensive part of new development, there is no cash flow to produce SG minis. No new minis means very little in the way of development - no point in paying for rules development if you don't have minis to sell. There was a rumor/hope that that Nid sprues might be put back into production if the molds were available and easy to rehab but it was always a long shot. |

Yeah, but I think now it has become more 'official'. We still had SG releases this year. Last month to be correct. Seems to be that the Ad-Mech vessels for Battlefleet Gothic will be the last for SG in a while. |

(Dwarf Supreme @ Sep. 25 2007,06:47) QUOTE I really don't see how SG "suddenly become popular" given the near total lack of marketing and support. Which you should take to mean that there isn't going to be any support until such time as GW is flush enough with cash to revive SG. |

One thing that might be our saving grace is that Forgeworld has always been under orders to only produce thing Games Workshop can't or will not produce. therefore if SG state they can't produce any more models for SG, it actually makes it easier for forgeworld to do so under their license. |

If Forgeworld is smart they start making more models for the SG range. GW has cut them with making own heavy tanks for Apocalypse. And even making stats in FW books redundant. |

Well that's no surprise really ... And if F/W pics up the ball, that's good too ... but once again, we've all been "disappointed" before ... But again, I'm putting my bets on DRM & E/W. Fresh new blood, both Epic-philes, etc., etc. ... |

But, they dont do minis for Space Marines, Eldars or Orks. Basicly all they do is proxies for Imperial Guard and few other things (like squats). Sad thing is that I like Space Marines, Eldars and Orks and no-one makes figurines for them. So I am sad. |
