Just to confirm it, there will not be a Tyranid plastic sprue release this Feb. Apparently it's not economically viable (I guess Chaos didn't sell all that well then...).

If anything is to happen, it'll be a year or two away (A new restructuring of SG, which has been talked about, but is not viable with the current financial situation at GWHQ).

So, DRM & EW, SG have ceeded the floor to you guys... for now.  :glare:

Hugely depressing, but not unexpected...

The regular death / rebirth of Epic is enough to make you believe in reincarnation!

Unless its accompanied by huge instore and wd publicity I don't know how many people will buy into any restructure/relaunch

I was more thinking of cutting fanatic online back to every three-months.

The impression I have is that any restructuring would be to set up a several small side companies in a similar vein to Forgeworld, only with a much smaller staff than last time (Fanatic).

Fanatic was so top-heavy it could never be self-sustaining, but if Epic on its own had a small studio of, let's say one writer, one sculptor, etc (Maybe four people at maximum)... well, maybe that could be sustained and built upon.

I will repeat it however, nothing's going to happen for a year or two.

I take it you didn't asked him about the rules review and the ERC, or did you?

Sad but hardly suprising.  I had filed that under the "longshot rumor" category for quite a while.

What was top heavy?

Maybe I'm not recalling correctly, but the information we had was that SG was doubling up producers - 3 producers, 7 games, 2 per producer, with Jervis taking only Epic as a part-time producer for Epic.  They had 1 or 2 generalists, like Andy.  I can't recall how they were set up for models, but I thought JJ said they were basically "commissioning" the main studio to do sculpts rather than having a dedicated staff (that way they could get the same person working on army X for 40K to do the Epic stuff in the same style).  I believe they were on a similar "purchase the capacity" basis for actual model production from the manufacturing side of the house and had substantial challenges scheduling production time.

Obviously, that could be wrong.  It's been literally years since I discussed any of this with anyone at SG.  Maybe I'm crocked...

If I recall correctly you are right Neal.

The 'top heavy' comment comes from a conversation I had with Jervis earlier this year, and it's something he said, not me (I can't remember how many permenant staff he said SG had had, but it was closer to twenty than it was to ten, IIRC).

He may alternatively have been referring to the costs of running SG through GW's distribution channels, which added hefty overheads.

Should this thread be moved to the General Epic Discussions as it involves more than Bugs!

Moved to General... I hope!
